I am looking for the perfect peach cobler recipe. It is not made from a premade cake mix. You mix flour, sugar etc. Can you help me. Thanks in advance. Deanna

RE: RECIPE: Peach ro berry cobler

This is my absolute favorite. I try others from time to time, but always come back to this one. I guess I prefer biscuit-y cobblers to cake-y cobblers.

Peach Cobbler

4 c. peaches
2/3 C. + 3 T. sugar
1 t. lemon zest
1 T. lemon juice
1/4 t. almond extract
1-1/2 C. unbleached flour
1 T. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/3 C. butter
1 egg, beaten
1/4 C. milk

Preheat oven to 400. Butter a 2-qt. baking dish and arrange peaches in dish. Sprinkle with 2/3 C. sugar, lemon zest, juice and almond extract. Bake for 20 min. Meanwhile, combine flour, 1 T. sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Combine egg and milk and mix into dry ingredients. Remove peaches from oven and quickly drop spoonfuls of dough over surface. Sprinkle with remaining 2 T. sugar. Bake another 15-20 min.
