RECIPE: Looking for this unusual Italian dessert recipe

Hi, I also posted this on the recipe exchange forum. I am looking for an Italian dessert, I don't know what it is called. It is a deep fried dough, shaped like a ravioli, dusted in regular granulated sugar. The filling is a paste made of chocolate, chick peas, and possibly some kind of nut, there could be some flavoring in it, etc. Does anyone know this? My Dad, not a sweets person, loved these, and the maker wouldn't share her recipe. Both of them have passed on, but I would like to make these in his memory for his grandchildren. Any help is much appreciated, thank you.
