3-panel sliding doors?

Decided I wanted to block off part of a hallway with sliding doors, preferably attached at the ceiling so the door panels would be 96 inches high by about 18 wide (a total of 48 inches wide when the three are pulled out, and when the three are all pushed to the side the opening would be 36 inches.)

Am just seeing the usual CHEAP closet door hardware made out of plastic and aluminum AND some very expensive barn door hardware costing many hundreds of dollars. Surely theres some intermediate-cost alternatives? Anyone have any ideas about how I could DIY this thing?
