You could paint your walls a creamy yellow and put a rug over part of the carpeting. If you wanted it muted and more in step with your furniture, you could do a simple sisal.

I was just in a home Friday night for a Holiday party that used a blue and yellow color scheme in a very traditionally decorated home with a slight nod to French Country. The floors were hardwood in the foyer and DR and cream colored wall to wall in the FR. The paint throughout the first floor except the DR was a very pale light yellow faux paint. The DR was a darker blue damask wallpaper with gold silk drapes. Basically, the entire first floor was done in varying shades of blue and yellow, stretching from the pale yellow to dark gold and pale blue to a bright french blue. It was very pretty and uncomplicated.

Here is a photo of BM's Rich Creme. A very soft yellow with no undertones of green, red, organge, etc. Very pretty.
