We are replacing the window treatments on the second floor of our house. The first floor has 2" wood blinds on every window. The upstairs has blackout roller blinds on every window, but they are worn and fussy after 15 years.

I want blackout features in the bedrooms but don't need it in the hallway (which is the window directly above the front door).

I'm thinking of buying blackout cellular shades for the bedrooms. Should I do non-blackout cellular shades or 2" wood blinds for the hallway upstairs? How important is consistency across the house?

My teen doesn't want me to touch her windows -- so the roller shades will probably stay there until she leaves for college. sigh.
