ItâÂÂs been a while since I have done a Rub&Buff project but from what I remember I never had the problem you describe unless it was an old tube where the air has gotten to it or if I didnâÂÂt massage the tube before opening and using or if I was using too much. Also, I always found the gold tone Rub & Buffs a little on the brassy side so always use an orange paint undercoat before I apply the gold.

I just finished the second coat, and it came out just as bad as the first- it was grainy and hard to spread. I've e-mailed the seller to request a replacement tube. Bummer.

I've used rub n buff many times and I think you probably got a bad tube also. It should come out with a nice consistency and spread easily. A little of that stuff goes a very long way.

I had a bad experience with Rub 'n' Buff silver applied over a painted, textured mirror frame. It also went on unevenly and pilled up. It was fine on my test frames, so I think it might have had something to do with the existing finish. It was bad. I thought I had ruined the mirror for sure. I went back over it with Liquid Leaf, as a last ditch effort. It took two coats, but success!!! I think the LL was a slightly more realistic silver color.
