Paint the wall an accent color and move the painting lower. It's hung too high -- at least from the perspective in this photo.

@Marymd7 I'm not able to paint the wall, I have to leave it white. Do you think lowering it as the wall is will make a difference? There will still be so much stark white.

It does need lowering, then you just ignore the wall above it. Is that a floor lamp? Could you move it between the sofa and chair instead? That will help break up the wall. It doesn't provide a break in the wall where it is now - the opening is right there and the ceiling bump too.

Yes, lower the art work.....make it a part of your couch grouping....I would say three or four inches above the couch. Where you have it now, makes you see too much of the white wall....having a group (artwork, couch) will seem more coordinated....you probably won't notice the white wall. The lamp between the chair/couch is a good idea also or find a small "chair side table" to put betwen the chair/couch to have a place to sit a cup of coffee..etc.

Definitely lower it. I agree with inches above the sofa. Is there room for a little table in the corner behind the chair that you can put something on -- a plant/branches/etc? Or -- is there room for a large plant in that corner? That would help decorate that space...
