The carpet pad with latex backing would be the best as it will have a good grip over the floor.

Great article, thanks for linking malabacat. I've been looking at rug pads lately too and was concerned about the damage done to wood floors. I have had pads that crumbled into dust before and now I wonder if they had a clay filler.
