BM Crown Point Sand vs. Abingdon Putty?

| Hi gang - finally moving on from my living room paint color mistake... (Monroe Bisque was just too yellow for me!)
A good friend helped me pick out Crown Point Sand and Abingdon Putty as possible replacement colors. I've got large patches painted in both, but I'm having a hard time deciding between them (big surprise there! ;-)). They are both a very neutral grayish tan with a slight green tinge - CPS is slightly grayer and darker than AP.
Does anyone have rooms painted in these colors that they can show?
Thanks in advance!

I have A. Putty in my kitchen. It is definitely a muted green yellow, I love it, but it reads green which is why I picked it. We are in the middle of the flu here, but if my son feels up to it tomorrow I will try to post. |

| Thanks, never_ending! So it must be something about kitchens. CPS & AP don't read as particularly green in the patches I painted in my living room, but when I brought the paint chips into my kitchen, they both looked decidedly green. Maybe it was the overhead (incandescent) light instead of lamps? Bizarre... Are you also reading yellow in the AP? I wanted to get away from yellow... charlikin (aka Tracey) |

| ... a very muted yellow undertone, BUT I think you are on to something about the lighting. My lighting in the kitchen, does seem to bounce off the floor and change tones. My son just ran by screaming in a towel, so obviously he is feeling perkier today! :) I will have him post a pic. I, myself, am in my bedroom painting what I hope will be a medium chocolate milk tan with slightly pink undertones, but WHO KNOWS!!! I was absolutely pleased with my A.Putty choice though, and marvel how "lucky" that choice turned out to be, now my living rooms on the other hand are on paint #5 (basic same colors) with another change probably on the horizon! I love/hate paint! |

| LOL at the image of your son running screaming in a towel... Medium chocolate milk tan with slightly pink undertones? Ooh - sounds pretty. *Almost* sounds like what I have in my bathroom, though I don't know about the chocolate part. I've got BM Kangaroo - it's like a latte with slightly pink undertones. Probably could have used a little less pink to go better with the tile, but it works, and it's a nice backdrop color when I'm looking at myself in the mirror. (I need all the help I can get!!! ;-)) |

Hi charlikin! I have Crown Point Sand in my kitchen. If you can believe it I still haven't finished my kitchen, well deciding on a backsplash. These are some old pictures of CPS. I am very happy with the color. IT's a warm neutral, sometimes tan, sometimes green, sometimes a hint of gold but never yellow. Take a look |

| Hi positano - thanks for the photos! Your kitchen looks beautiful! I know what you mean about it taking much longer than you thought it would - I thought I was going to be all done with my renovation and redecorating a year ago! And here I am still trying to pick out the darn paint colors. Grrr. I keep going back and forth between AP and CPS. I'm sure either one would be fine. But sometimes I like one better, and sometimes the other. It's ridiculous. Basically, AP seems "safer", and I keep thinking that I finally chose a "safe" tile for my bathroom and ended up loving it. But I'm also nervous that AP has a bit more yellow in it, and since I hate the yellow in Monroe Bisque so much, maybe I should steer clear of anything that has any yellow in it! OR maybe that would be an overcorrection...and if I choose CPS, it will look too dark and gray... (though it looks beautiful in your kitchen!) Why do I do this to myself? Being this analytical is a plus at work. Why is it such a minus at home??? |
