The floors are cherry, the cabinets are white, and we chose a dark green Silestone for the counters.

My kitchen (may it rest in peace until it finally gets off it's arse and gets finished....) will be a soft terracotta color but it will be done in venetian plaster (so you get texture with the tone). I think to darken it just a bit towards umm pumpkin :oP I'm going to do an antique wash over it. VP is so hard to judge...I picked a bold orange terracotta, and then they send that chip to Italy...and you get a big old jar of sherbert...So I have to actually get it on the wall to see if my vision worked in reality when it was turned to marble dust.

So to add to the fun I'm doing a second kitchen. I haven't decided a color, but I'm keeping a very cool brick wall, so I need to work with that for color. I'm also keeping mahogany cabinets (they've deepened over time to a very rich brown color) so I think for contrast I have to go lighter. I might go for a rich mocha...on the tan side, verses the brown. I desperately want to do a really bold dining room using reds...so I have to find a tone that flows well with both the brick and the red of the dining room. I'll probably do VP again just for fun. It's such a rich finish.

And now I guess I need to find a cat painter....my little guys just watch me paint and occasionally wander through a paint bucket to spread kitty prints around...they never help on the ladder ;(

It sounds ghastly, photographs badly, and makes me smile every time I walk in the door. :-)

Okay, back on topic... we just painted our large kitchen/ dining area BM Wethersfield Moss, but when the cabinets go in we're thinking of painting the beadboard backplash a lighter shade on the same paint card - Nantucket Gray. I'm hoping for a soft blend in that area rather than a contrast.

What kind of undercabinet lighting did you use on the upper cabinet?

Do you remember the name of the island lights, or where you got them?

And lastly, do you know the width and height of your windows (individually)? I'm having a hard time getting the panes of glass right relative to the whole window in my kitchen. I really like the proportion of yours, and the casings are beautiful.

I guess you might as well tell me what kind of counter top you have too!

Mine has a pale apple green on two walls (not much wall space there) and an off white on the other two walls. My cabinets are a very pale yellow called Opal something - Behr. I don't remember the name of a paint three minutes after I get out of the store.

If you're going to show your kitties, turnabout is fair play. This is baby Ruby at 16 weeks old on my new kitchen floor I just laid (she was not in the mood for picture taking so that's a kibble in front of her). She's 18 weeks old today and growing like a weed! She is soft as cashmere, and she doesn't just wag her tail; she wags her whole butt. Everybody says "awwww" when they meet her. :D

Ours used to be a sage, most likely a Behr color but we changed it to Vanilla Latte a Glidden color. Cabinets are a honey maple.

Our new house will have an Autumn color cabinet IIRC, have no clue what color I will paint. New counters are in the mocha family.

Egganddart, my lights are from Pottery Barn, bought last year. Paint is Sherwin Williams Honest Blue. Counters are maple and just a formica laminate, can't recall the name I'm afraid. The windows are... 23" wide by 49" tall. They're Marvin Integrity and I'm sure a standard size. I remember that stage of madly checking measurements and taping mock windows on the walls of my old house!

Re the kitty pictures, I want a kitty, but I think DH would need some convincing.

Oh, and the cat coordinates very nicely, thank you very much :).

My Oma has a labradoodle that looks all black lab except for two things - his coat is wavy (like a lab with a perm), and he has a long pointy poodle nose. They certainly come in all kinds of combinations!

I also like the Audubon Russet I see in the Pottery Barn colors fandeck by Ben Moore. If you like terra cotta, that might be really a nice shade.

You must get a kitty!! We adopted 2 tiny (2-weeks old, found under a bush, mother killed by a car) kittens a couple of years ago. My husband thought he didn't like cats. But when the friend who found them had my 2 kids and I over to see them, my son and daughter's reaction was so immediate and intense, I knew he wouldn't be able to refuse them. He really loves them now, of course.

ps..did you paint the inside of your cabinet with the glass doors? I have plans on doing that also.. did you use oil base? looks wonderful!

Here's my tiny kitchen. The pic is from Winter Solstice last year. The chili pepper wreaths do not live on the cabinets year round, nor do the lights stay up all year, but the wreath on the backsplash behind the stove stays. The towels are my Solstice colors- fuschia and lime green.

Both of our boys are rescues too. Rider (red and white ) we adopted as a puppy. He belonged to a younger couple that was gone all day, so he'd sit and howl. The neighbors started to complain, so they had to give him up. Kirby (tri-colored ) was found wandering on the streets half starved and brought to the human society, we adopted him from there. Our vet said he was about a year old at the time, so almost the same age as Rider. Both our boys are almost 5 now, they're 'momma's boys' .. I can't imagine life without them. :)

All the kitchens here ( and kitties and dogs ) are just beautiful! We will hopefully be starting our kitchen remodel after the holidays and I hope it turns out half as nice as the ones pictured above!

We went with the bottom color which which is BM color 110. Sometimes I lie and say it's spiced pumpkin (which may be the color right above the chair rail), although its true name is starfish or, as the paint card says, 110.

Our kitchen is HD Luminary Yellow and Lowes Bangkok Rust (in the dining area).

Our kitchen is crappy....for now. We just got done remodeling the full downstairs bath. Next is the full upstairs bath and then the kitchen. House needs a lot of TLC from the abuse and neglect of previous owners. This thread is giving me so much inspiration! Thanks all for sharing!

I believe it was their brand (Portfolio). They will sell something and then you go back some time later and they have all new stuff. I am not sure where to find it. Maybe you could show them a picture and ask where they purchase from and they might be able to help you. Good luck and thanks for the compliment!
