Pre-teen bedroom help

| My daughter is 11 and we are redecorating her room .. some for christmas, some because she getting a new bed. Here's what we know we are getting. Black iron daybed w/trundle, white desk and we have two dressers to paint (but will only use one in the room - the other in walk in closet). She wants to funky everything up and I want to keep it tweenish with the hopes of keeping it for 5 years or so. We're thinking about a zebra comforter/duvet to pull together the desk and bed. Then use pops of color like hot pink/teal/orange. I'd love to see ideas you've used in your tween bedroom. Her room is so small which is why were going with a daybed for a little more space for the desk. She wants to paint all the walls a bright color. I'm trying to get her to opt for only one wall for a focal wall. Ideas? |

| I'd let her paint all the walls of whatever color she chooses. |

We used a daybed also in my teen's room and she too wanted bright pink. We ended up painting a large bright pink vertical stripe centered behind where the daybed is. There is just a small amount of Standish White framing the pink on that wall. It makes the bed and the color a nice focal point. Although i love the bright pink we used, in a small space I think it would be too confining to use in the whole room. |

| Have you been able to find a zebra print duvet? My 14yo's room is periwinkle. She has a white iron daybed and off-white furniture (typical teen traditional style). I want to pull it together with zebra print and black, pink and periwinkle accessories to make it look more grown up, but I've been unable to find the zebra. |

Instead of the zebra duvet, I would go for a vibrant coral-pink on the walls like Laura Ashley 105 Deep Pink 5, white duvet with maybe a deep pink ribbon trim and black/white zebra rug! The black white around the room would look so crisp against the vibrant pink of the walls! The widows should be light like white soft roman shades. For light, a white gord shape lamp, white shade with pink ribbon border like in PBTeen. The vibrant wall color will look contemporary, not baby-ish and will last into her teenage years. The rug I have seen in many stores, this is just to give an idea. Good luck! |

| Teen girl catalogue Delia's has suprisingly (at least for me) cute and affordable room accessories and bedding. They have zebra. |

| My DD's (age 12) room is painted as follows: Two opposite walls - deep purple (one wall has a window) Other two opposite walls - coral/pink (could be the LA but I don't remember). The curtain is the same color as the coral/pink color of the other two walls (which was by absolutely nothing but luck.ha) Her comforter has that color pink and a lighter shade of purple with lime green mixed in too. We have lime green pillows on her bed and the same pink color fuzzy pillows. Definitely a room that will get her thru for several years. |

Here's my tween's room, a little bare in this pic, since we had just moved in when it was taken. And the lighting in this pic is terrible. The walls are aqua blue and her bathroom, is an apple green. She has since then put 3 poster frames on the right wall with two leather cubes between. She really likes it...it's grown up, but funky.

| Very pretty. I like it. DD would like the pink. We're still trying to decide between pink or aqua/turquoise.... but, I think she's okay with only one accent wall and a lighter shade on the rest of the walls. The aqua in the room above is pretty. I could live with that.... since blue is more calming, which I need dealing with a pre-teen! :-) |

| ideefixe thank you for steering me to Delias.com. DD loved the "Starstruck" set. She has decided on turquoise/agua paint and if she really wants the whole room that color, I can live with it. But I'm still going to try for one wall and the rest a lighter shade. Anyways, the only problem. Everything in the set is sold out! It won't be available till Feb for most things. If they don't charge your account till then, I'm okay... but I can't pay for it now and not get it till then. X-mas is right around the corner and if the set doesn't come till Feb - it'll be a b-day present. Now, I'm on the look out for lighting. I really want something like returnqueen has in her DD's room. Actually that would be perfect. I think my Lowes/Home Depot has one. Maybe she can get that now. Thanks for the help girls |
