Do you like this lamp on this buffet?

This is a coastal home, dining room, and trying to find to find the right lamp. I want a casual look. Would you suggest a pair of lamps, which would be more formal, but that is ok...symmetry is good and the lamps themselves are not formal. I am still playing around with the table top and moving accessories around,so this is not the finished look, but really interested in thoughts on the lamp.

Initially, I thought a pretty blue glass lamp would look nice and bring more of a coastal feel, thought this lamp certainly reflects a casual, coastal feel as well. I also thought a blue ceramic lamp would be pretty....maybe even an egret, Blue Heron.... Thoughts and input much appreciated.

the blue bottles break the squares of the mirror and the table ...

but the square shade bugs me ...

the shade is the right size/proportion ... but its too many squares ... its not relaxing.. to MY EYE .... for what that is worth ....

of course seeing your pic upside down isnt either.. lol...

The lamp is okay but sort of kitschy. Can you stand in front of the side table and actually look in the mirror. Looks way to low for the room.

I think you can find something much nicer. Agree with Ken that the shade is odd. The mirror and bottles are so pretty, and you've got the baskets in the buffet. I think I'd go for something a bit more rustic.

Tibbrix - really like the first lamp you posted.

Dorry2 - I agree that the lamp in question may not be the best choice but I am currently struggling with lamps so I'm not much help. The third lamp Tibbrix posted may be in the right direction - simple, elegant.

Good luck - who knew lamps were so challenging??

I like Tibbs first lamp, but I'm not sure if it will work because then maybe you have three competing basket looks in one spot? The blue bottles are really nice, too.

Are you sure you need a lamp there? With the size weight of the mirror frame, along with the basket detail, I think I might leave it bare or maybe add a low tray. Love the vases, too.
