and could start all over from scratch, I would decorate Mediteranean or Spanish modern as it is now called. I love this style. Anyone else have dreams?

Oh, how many times I've had that thought and conversation! I'd just like things to be finished! I like what we're doing, but it's awfully slow when you're doing the work yourself.

Maybe tonight will be our lucky night????

RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

I am right there with you, that is a style that I really love too.

 o
RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

Heck, If I won the lottery I might just move to the Meditteranean!

 o
RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

Heck, I'd just get crown moulding.

BTW, never bother buying anything from that Meditteranian site. Mostly just junk from China.

I bought a cannister set, from Horchow, that was identical to one shown there (a while back). Paid 1/3 of the price and Horchow ain't cheap.

I would be enjoying the sun in Hawaii, while my house that I came back to visit once in a while was being finished. But before I left I would be sure that the person in charge ran out and snagged this piece that was just posted for my office:

First, I would build a new barn for my horses :) Then, I would remodel our old farmhouse and maybe get a little place at the lake---it's a big lottery, right? LOL

RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

I'd buy a house on the Maine coast, but still keep my CO home.

hel-lo lake cottage! Goodbye house!

RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

Make that three for a lake house. Nothing huge, of course. But a modern lake cottage. We would stay at the lake while a crew came to our place to:

1) Finish our DIY kitchen
2) Rip out the funky 1950s Hollywood bath and make it into two separate baths.
3) Install a new roof and skylights.
4) Landscape, to include drainage changes, an electric gate and nice lighting up the drive.

Oh, and an Audi TT for DH. He has wanted one for years.

How much money are we talking here? Well .. I'm dreaming big. ;)

I'd buy one of the few privately owned Adirondack great camps, like maybe Camp Uncas. I used to clean this camp when I was in college for the people that owned it, made great money cleaning these huge beautiful old camps in the summers! It's an awe inspiring place. It's so hard to tell scale in the pictures .. I could stand inside that fireplace fully erect, stretch out my arms and not touch the sides. It's hard to see in the pics .. but that one wall is floor to very high ceiling french doors in the great room over looking the lake.

I would buy the cheap piece of cr@p house next door that was built in 1992 and tear it down and reclaim that empty lot which used to belong to our house.

I even have a neighbor who says if she wins the lottery she's buying it for us. :)

Definitely a place on the water somewhere.... all mine...someone to rake the beach and pour some drinks. Oh and run to the library.

I would love to say that I would start over and build a different house but the fact is that we are in the middle of our build so I'll keep it. Good idea Jakabedy - hire some landscapers and have a beautiful garden outside. But seriously if I won the lottery tomorrow I would buy a brand new minivan since mine has turned into kid construction van :( and hire a professional cleaning crew to clean up our house so we don't have to do it during construction, oh and I would upgrade our doors and trim to maple or something like that. New clothes for myself would also be very nice too! maybe take the family out for crab legs and then let my husband retire in his 30's!

I wish they sold lottery tickets here. They think it's a sin or something, geez.

 o
RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

The people who live across the street from us actually won a lottery about 6 years ago....12.5 million....wouldn't that be nice.

 o
RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

I've never bought a lottery ticket, I'm just not a gambler. Hubby buys with a group at work.
I am surprised at how many are in the same boat though. Heck we've lived here six years now and still have construction grade stairs. We'll have real stairs by spring since hubby and I have finally agreed on all oak. No bickering involved just never really discussed it to the point where we found something we both liked. Now we just have to agree on how to stain them. Samples will solve that.

If my hubby did win the lottery we'd pay off the house if we had enough. If he won real big we'd buy the kids each a house. We're very practical people.

If I won the lottery I would buy this house and restore it.

RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

Roobear, fantastic house! Can't tell if it's the kitchen or butler's pantry, but those built-in cabinets are to die.

If I won the lottery, I'd finish the remodel on my current house - redo the kitchen and downstairs bath, redo the awkward entryway, semi-finish the basement. Then I'd furnish the place with a combination of antiques and modern, sit on it until the real-estate market picks up, sell and buy the house I really want. I'd stay in the same neighborhood but would love one of the grand old stone mansions in the area.

And for my summer house on Long Island, I'd get the beauty linked below. That tile work......

Have a home in Bellagio on Lake Como!

 o
RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

lavender took the words right out of my mouth ... I'd build a new, really nice barn, for my donkeys.

Then I would refinish all the hardwood floors and replace the deck with whatever materials need the least maintenance.

 o
RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

Pamghatten- You have to take care of the kids first, right? (LOL)

Trex deck works well. My mom used that for her deck and she loves it :)

RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

I would get out of this dump of a house, this neighborhood, and this town (which is a boil on the butt of the state of NH) in a split second, possibly donating it to charity for them to auction off. (I'd also buy the horrible, disgusting, badly remuddled repo'ed house next door, deconstruct it for whatever salvageable material might be left, and sell the lot for a pittance to the nice people who live on the other side of it but have absolutely no yard, nowhere for a garden or a garage or a deck.) There's a perfect stone-and-shingle bungalow in Portsmouth, NH that I've been coveting for about a decade now - just outside of downtown, perched on a grassy slope with just enough trees. It's to die for. Or, our other "wish we could" option is to buy a true teardown in a town we like and build a "new old house" (a small but exquisite Queen Anne, Arts & Crafts, or Gothic Revival) with as much recycled/salvaged/restored material as humanly possible since money would be no object. :-) Or if we're really going "out there", I'd reproduce Bag End from the Lord of the Rings movies, but I don't think the workers exist who could pull it off.

I'd also tear down the disintegrating and essentially unsellable doublewide my mother is currently cursed with and build her a cute little cottage with subtle use of Universal Design principles so she can "age in place". She's extremely stubborn about where she wants to live and what she needs simply doesn't exist there.

BTW, we used Azek for our exterior stairs - decking for the treads and trimboards for the risers, and are really happy with it. (We also used an Azek knockoff for all the trim on the porch and it looks sharp. Except where we haven't caulked any of the nails... LOL) Azek has far less organic material in it than Trex and other composites and so is less prone to mold, which is why we chose it over the others.

pay the bills, then get my son healthy and daughter as well. Get a face lift (just a teeny one lol ) because they are still a bit young and I am a bit old. get a good bed because we have bad backs and my husband snores. Have this house finished off by a professional and build the screen porch my DH wants and get him a really cool hot tub...and so on.....

RE: If I won the lottery tomorrow.....

yup, a spiffy new barn for the ponies, on my huge family compound somewhere on the new england coastline.
i'd like a sunrise view of the water, please, and be able to ride on the beach and trails for hours and hours while
hubby spends his days cooking what he catches or grows.
let's see, a house for hub and me, and four more for our kids and sibs.
wow, we're going to need some land!
yup, it's gonna have to be one big lottery...
