Can you post a picture of your room? Also are there other windows in the room, and what sort of treatments do those have?

A look I like is to place the rods at the top near the ceiling then use a wood blind to fill in the gap between the ceiling and the window top. Very finished, elegant and thoughtful.

I agree with Annie, especially if there is no trim on the top of the window. This will add something that you currently do not have (some interest in place of the lack of trim).

I typically do this on all of my windows as most of the houses in which I have lived do not have trim.

I love filling in the gap with a wooden shade! That looks great! I opted for bamboo shades with no curtains in the living room and kitchen based on not wanting to deal with curtains and toddler eating habits and in the living room there is not enough space on 2 of 4 windows to add curtains.

Using the bamboo shade in this way in the bedroom will tie the whole first floor together!
