I love the rug and ivory would work. I have had ivory fabric on my dining chairs since new and I am so tired of them but it would be new to you. KSWL used a gorgeous green damask on her dining room chairs and they look stunning.

What's the style on the chair and dining set? The leg looks lovely. Would you say the look you are going for is more traditional or transitional -- the rug seems like it could lean in either direction.

I think ivory Matelasse would look nice, tie in, and break up the darkness of the rug/stand out better.

The white in your rug doesn't appear to be ivory on my monitor.

That fabric with the ovals is nice, and reflects the circular pattern of the floral.

Consider a stripe with ivory, cranberry and green, or the rusty pink.

Too busy / bright? I love this fabric, but I don't think it's right for this rug.

I would look for a nice jacobean embroidery fabric on ivory with the browns, red and grey (or blues) in the carpet, or I would embroider my own, you do it in wool it doesn't take that long.

I just spent a good chunk of time perusing fabrics online and found several stripes that might work. Most of them were Robert Allen and I think that JoAnn's has quite an assortment of RA samples. I'll head out tomorrow and see if I get lucky. Thanks for your input!
