Here is another picture looking into the kitchen.

The largest tan selection was the first designer's choice and the color board sample is Buttercream.

I used EK Buttercream in a fairly large room, a combined living and dining area, and then down the hall. I think it is a great neutral color. And I think it would go well with your wood flooring.

Buttercream appears somewhat light until it's up. Once it is bouncing upon itself, and then I find it to be very yellow but quite pretty. Depending on your light, it should be lovely with a reflective, candelight glow. Hard to tell from your pictures, but it appears the kitchen ceiling is a white that may not be as compatible with Buttercream, but the sample picture with the plant looks as if the ceiling is the same ochre color. I'd prefer a really good white to unify the spaces.

Yes the ceiling in the kitchen is regular stomped white - lovely;) We are getting bids on having it scraped and redone, but there is no good stopping point so it is a lot of ceiling. I hadn't considered my ceiling in there, but all my trim and my cabinets are white as well? The ceiling in the great room will be painted.

I had originally wanted a nice white, but decided it was too stark? That's why I was leaning towards buttercream, much lighter than I had with some warmth and looked good with my floors. However, the trim and cabinets are definitely staying too.

Thanks for your thoughts - I don't have an eye to think about all these things until it's too late.
