Hope you get a lot of answers. Even the heating pads go south quickly. I don't use one for my bed, but do have a twin to wrap up in when in the livingroom. It is ugly and hidden when someone shows up. They are also getting expensive for their less than decent quality.

They do need to be washed (in my mind) as one would with any bedding. I gently wash mine by hand and hang outside to dry on a decent day. This in itself is a bit much, not sure if I'm really saving longevity or not by doing this. Guess I could put a duvet on it.

In the past I have been happy with Sunbeam heated blankets. I can't vouch for the newer ones.

But, FWIW I have switched to the heated mattress pad. To me, it is much more comfortable.

I love electric blankets also. Turn the blanket on and crawl into a warm bed. I am looking for a new one also and will look at a Sunbeam. Need a king size with two controls. Have bought them at JC Penney's before.
