I'd ask at the tool store. They do make drill bits that are diamond coated for drilling into harder surfaces. Some stones require an impact driver. However, I would think the issue would be drilling without cracking the stone. Also, depending on how smooth the stone is, you may need to score it in some way to keep the drill from walking on you when you first start out.
