I'd call it a "sensitive renovation" rather than a "painstaking restoration" to "original condition".

It's well done, I think, except for the master bath which is a terrible fit for the house. The kitchen is nothing special except for the glass, but the kitchens generally aren't that important in houses like this.

I like his MCM house in Palm Springs better - and I would rather have a house in PS than Chatsworth, but neither location is good for a primary residence, unless one is retired, in which case Palm Springs would be good. I'd love to have a second home in Palm Springs.

We send our electronic tester boxes to Chatsworth to be calibrated, which is what I associate it with. I just talked with our UL inspector today about that.

Out of curiosity what would one do to that never ending and vast black top driveway if they wanted to stay somewhat true to the house? I find the exterior and views appealing but the drive and parking area is horrid. To stay true what would the options be?

The blacktop is probably pretty much it. I don't think the landscaped or patterned paver driveway was much of a thing until the 1990s and most driveway surfaces were pretty utilitarian. A mid-century driveway is pretty much gonna be a plain concrete or blacktop ribbon.

It's a really interesting place, but for some reason it kind of gives me the heebie-jeebies! Looks like a great setting for a thriller... They thought they were in for the wildest night of their lives...They were right...bwahahahaha!

I had to laugh when the focus of the master suite in the Gable/Lombard place was the bed. Didn't they "invent" the California king mattress or is that just urban legend?
