Wainscotting painted anything other than white?

I've cross posted this in the bathroom forum, but hope you all can help. I'm finishing up my powder room remodel and the toilet and console vanity will be white. I'd like to paint the wainscotting something other than white. Just afraid there'll be too much white in the room and not enough interest. The floors will be a darkish grey/green (I'll attach a pic). If you have any suggestions I'd be grateful.

Pretty tiles! ANy particular brand of paint that you'd be purchasing? How light or dark do you think that you would want to go?

FWIW I'm glad to see trim and wainscoting painted colors other than white. I think that painted trim is making a comeback and what a great way to add color to a room w/o splashing it from ceiling to floor and wall to wall.

The house that I grew up in had white walls and every room had trim painted a different color including the wainscoting in the TV room which was mustard. My mom did a wonderful job!

What kind of a 'look' do you want in the powder room? Something bold, neutral, monochromatic? The easiest and safest thing (besides white) is to take your tile with you to the paint store and pick out a much lighter version of that color.

You could also try a gray or green that compliments the tile. What do you plan to do above the wainscotting? Are you painting it a different color? What are you using for hardware and faucet? It would help to know your other choices to get more recommendations about color :)

Sorry I'm late responding...just a little computer trouble.
Since this is the main floor powder room I'm thinking I could go a little darker and more dramatic...but not too much or DH will freak out. I'm leaning towards grey...could be light grey or even charcoal? White above, or maybe a white and grey wallpaper? I've been thinking about Farrow and Ball Lamp Room Grey. The powder room will be somewhat traditional in look with a white and chrome console sink. St Thomas Nouveau console.

Love lisa0527's idea of the wallpaper. It is hard to find an image of wainscottting in any other color besides white...but of course Houzz to the rescue and I found some :)
I personally think this would look smashing with that tile: (it's white, but carrying that charocal color above makes for a great look!)

Oooohhh...looks wonderful. I may just do it. I like the charcoal paint better than wallpaper I think. Clipped to my favourites!
