What colors can I add to my living room.

Hi all,

After we bought our house couple months ago, we have been working on making it our own and first thing we made sure to change is the flooring and wall colors.

We put in dark hardwood floors and carpet in our family room and we painted the walls neutral colors. I wanted to do an accent wall but one that wouldn't stand out much.

I have been realizing that I am not loving the colors with my couches. The colors look fine during the day when there is sun and at night its fine, however, when it is cloudy outside the cream looks a tad bit on the pink side and my couches are light tan, so it doesn't look that great together.

Now, I need to know what colors of throw pillows or accessories I can add to this room to make it look alive..because it seems all one color. Also we continued with the same colors to the dinning room as it is open to the living room. Any tips on colors for the dinning room as well?

Please excuse the mess and the dust on the dinning room table as we are still working around that area.

You can do something bold and graphic to complement your neutral background, but it depends on your preference for color.

bb, those are fabulous inspirations! I would first find an area rug that I loved or a piece of art and go from there.

The only tip I can offer is to fill it with whatever colors YOU like and will make you happy. I like bright colors :)

On my monitor it looks like all the colors (wall, couch, carpet) coordinate very well. The couch looks dark beige/tan with a pink undertone which works with the slightly pinky beige walls. The carpet looks cream or light brown on my monitor. So again, I think your base looks lovely. I would add blues, reds, grays, or even greens. I would stay away from yellow and orange, so it's been said, and I've seen it with my own eye that when those colors are paired with pinky beige it will make the beige look dirty next to it. If you wanted to do yellow I would actually use a yellow vs. a gold. I'm not a color expert by any means, but have read a lot of Maria Killam blog and she has a lot of info and regarding this.

Ultimately do what you like, but I'd probably pick blues or grays.

Gorgeous cat. Is there any way to lower the fixture above the dining room table? It's way too high. What colors do you like? Think about what colors you lean toward when buying clothes,
