What color curtains for nook?

We are almost done with our kitchen remodel and now it's time to pick out window treatments for our nook. I could really use some opinions. Our cabinets are a medium-dark brown. Our countertop is Cambria Canterbury and our walls are BM Brookline Beige. Over our island we do have accent lights that are red, so I thought maybe the curtains we get should have some red in them to tie it all together. We have a peninsula that separates our kitchen from our nook, so I think I have to take the busy counter into account when picking out curtains. What do you all think?

The curtains are really just for show. The only time we close them is during dinner when the sun is setting and is in our eyes. I like keeping them open since we have so many beautiful trees in our backyard.

The picture of our nook is not the best since I took it with my phone, but you get the idea of how the kitchen flows into the nook.

If they'e just for show, I'd just put some pretty valances on them and put roller shades behind the valances that you can pull down to keep the sun out during dinnertime.

Thanks for you input! This whole time I was thinking long curtains, but shades may be the way to go. The way our windows are made there is not much room to do an inside mount. So, we could go with an outside mount, with a shade over each window. We could do either roller shades with a valance over it or maybe just roman shades. We would keep them up most of the time but pull them down as needed.

In that first picture you posted, what kind of shades are those? Are those roman shades? I like those.

Here is the link to the Web site that has the valances you like. are they called "flat roman shades"? Not sure. They're custom made.

I love the third one so much I actually called about getting some for my LR, which is very woodsy and rustic. I've got to put those cheap vinyl roller shades in as my LR is often used as a baby's bedroom in the summer by tenants and they want it dark. But I don't want a lot of window treatment on my windows. Bali is sending me some swatches of the binding options and the wood options.

A little contrast and drama at those windows. Faux roman shades in a Brown/Black pattern and a different light pendant.

I'd do side panels and a valance in a pretty paisley like this one and then tuck some duettes underneath the valance so they'd disappear except when you need them.
