I've attached a link that has several pictures of skirts attached to pedestal sinks. They can be attached with Velcro, or double stick tape. In the 4th row, there are instructions, which also can be found online.

I love My3dogs suggestion. Adding a skirt gives you the opportunity to add color, pattern, and texture to your powder room/bathroom.

For practical reasons, I wouldn't want to sheet rock around it...if you need to access the plumbing it becomes a real problem.

Rather, perhaps hanging something on that side to distract you might be a better solution...a towel off of a ring or bar or hook? A small shelving unit to store or display towels and such?

We have the same situation - I like the open look of the pedestals sink and don't mind the plumbing too much (it's charming I think and fits the age of our house) but I do hide it a bit with an old stool and a simple plant -

Check out Pottery Barn for small bath cabinets and modular storage. I was planning a pedestal sink and searched everywhere for a small, shallow cabinet with drawers. PB's sundry cabinet was the best I could find without getting into custom made. They have other pieces too.

I don't normally think of this as an issue - is the plumbing pvc though? Maybe you can just switch it out?

If you have ugly plumbing - plastic pipes, etc., change out to expensive chrome fittings which will enhance the appearance and look appropriate and just fine - no need to hide!!

Or just keep the door closed or partially closed!

Peegee, you are so right. I just had plumber change the white PVC to what looks like polished chrome, absolutely amazing the difference. You don't even notice the pipe, it seems to mirror-like reflect the tile around the area.

Hello, reviving this as I was searching for a solution to the same problem. We have a chrome pipe on the back of the sink but have a bronze faucet. It drives me nuts to see the chrome & braze so close together and I'm considering switching out the faucet to chrome but my husband thinks i'm crazy. What do you say garden web, can we have both metals without looking awful? House is 100 yr old.

i don't think metals should match in a house that old. It just doesn't seem natural to me. That being said, if it's driving you crazy, it's driving you crazy- you don't need to justify it, go ahead and switch out the faucet and I'm sure it will look great!

We recently put one in our new bath too. We had plenty of angst over the plumbing issue. At some point you do have to just embrace it. It comes with the territory.

You could spray paint the chrome pipe.
