Show me your pics! Here's mine! As you can see, it covers almost the whole ceiling. My thoughts were to take the wall color all the way to the edge of the tray, then natural cream on the inside, and a light blue up top. Another thought was to just cut by 25, then 50, then 75 percent.

just did a few google image searches. my ceiling does not appear to be a tray or a coffered ceiling. what is it? thanks

My MB ceiling is the same as yours and we've always called it a tray. There are double trays too. Our MB walls are painted BM Pittsfield Buff then we've got crown moulding. The flat part of the ceiling surrounding the tray is white and the angled part of the tray is also Pittsfield Buff. The tray itself is the next darker shade on the same color strip, BM Yorkshire Tan, if I'm remembering correctly. A decorator selected this combo. She said that painting the flat part of the tray a darker shade makes the ceiling feel higher.

We did not cut the paint for our Master bedroom, and it looks fine with all the white trim.

However, I wish we had cut the paint in the dining room. UGLY... I still want to repaint!

Here is a pic of our painted tray ceiling. We did not cut the paint.

We used three different colors from the same BM paint strip. The change is almost hard to see in the pictures but we are happy with how it turned out.

Walls are River Reflection (1552)
Middle Tray is La Paloma Gray (1551)
Top Tray/Celing is Cumulus Cloud (1550)

All of the trim is white.

Thanks newhomebuilder- that is exactly the look we were going for. We did the bath in a pretty gray/blue (Gibraltar Cliffs # 1587) and it really looks soothing and spa like.
I am attaching a picture because I really think it compliments the bedroom color well- maybe someone might consider using it for the tray ceiling as an accent.
