Back Tab vs. Rod Pocket Panels?

I'm ordering 55"w x 96"h drapery panels and am trying to decide between rod pocket vs. back tab. They are for a 69" wide window in a sitting room. White painted wood blinds will remain in place inside the window for light control. My interior designer said to just gather each panel on a standard white metal U-shaped rod on either wide of the window. I think she was trying to help me save $$$ since I'm still remodeling in other areas of the house. I could spend a little more ($15/panel) for the rod pocket and also purchase an inexpensive brass decorative full length rod. The room is traditional with walnut stained library cabinets, cream colored sofa and chairs and bronze swing arm lamps on either side of the sofa. The ceiling above the window slopes upward, well above 8ft., as it's vaulted. Do you recommend getting the back tab and also, what about having a decorative rod? Thanks all for taking the time to help me out again.
