Do you already have the vanity cabinet?

Here is a nice color. Do not know what it is. If you do not have the cab something l like this would be nice.

Stain isn't like paint where you can a consistent color from piece to piece. The same stain looks different on different types of wood, that would be considered a medium type of stain a cinnamon type of color and even this can vary by how long you keep it on the wood before wiping it off and how many coats you put on. Also, are you starting with new unstained cabinets or previously stained cabinets? Or are you buying a cabinet already stained? I do think wood works really well with the sink, it looks like you have a good eye.

I love that first one. Nice rich golden, which goes perfectly with your vanity and sink.

Just stay away from mahogany/reds!

aktillery, no, I don't have the vanity yet. It should be built this week. Which color stain did you like from the link you provided?

kitchenlover, I'm using knotty alder for the vanity and have a scrap piece for the stain samples. I knew about the different woods looking different with the same stain. Didn't realize (DH knows tho) about leaving it on longer. The lady at SW said you can't use more than one coat due to raising the grain. DH said that was hog wash. He had to match some 30 yo cabs once and some areas took one coat, some more. He could do this and normally would but he's letting someone do the work this time. We're off to buy some pint size cans and start mixing.
