I love this! I bought this big basket empty and just kind of walked thru my house collecting spare pumpkins, leaves and the hurricane vase. I think it came together great!

| THanks! The hurricane came from sundancecatalog and what is neat about it is there is a metal pan attached half way down the hurricane but lifts up to put cute things below and then I rested a candle on the pan. I bought a set of 3 of these hurricanes - different sizes and they are awesome to decorate all seasons with. Looks really pretty at xmas with glitter snow below the pan with a few small shiney xmas balls, etc. Easy to decorate with... |

Post a picture of a centerpiece on a decorating forum and we start talking about the furniture! You have to know we can't look at just the tablescape. heehee :D I love the blue buffet...as well as your table and chairs. Centerpiece looks beautiful with the colors in your furniture, the cranberry color ties everything together very nicely. Are those fabric pumpkins/gourds? Did you make them? |

| I wannna know the answers to all of the above questions too! I love your centerpiece. Very smart! |

| It's so perfect with all the great primitive stuff that we can see in the back ground. I also love the buffet! I'd love to see a picture of your center piece with some great fall homespun, or a fall checked fabric under it, if you happen to have any. Or, some of the leaves peeking out from under it, with the basket setting directly on the table. The lace is very pretty, but seems to be a different look than the basket and it's contents. I hope that doesn't offend you at all, as the lace may be a family piece that you love - in which case, it's JUST where it should be! |

| Great job, and a great room, too! I do agree with my3dogs about a piece of homespun or muslin with fringed edges under the basket. I think it would pull the natural look down to the table. Last year for Thanksgiving I used dark green tablecloths, then bought inexpensive, darker-toned homespun/muslin and cut it into table runners. Just fringed the edges a little bit, and then scattered small leaves along it. Topped with a platter with cranberries, unshelled nuts, leaves and small gourds with three pillar candles in the center of the table. It really was pretty, if I do say so, and very inexpensive to do. |

| I love it too and want to know what that is in the hurricane...did you mean that it is a candle ? I LOVE that buffet too. Would you post more pics of your home? It looks wonderful from what we can see...really pretty. c |

Beautifully done! Very creative! I so admire people who can just go around their house and grab a few things - and voila, a table centerpiece. Having finished most of what I can do outside until next Spring, I once again turn inside and everything looks ready for a change -- but sometimes just adding a centerpiece, moving a few things or adding/deleting just a few elements makes a huge difference. Thanks for the inspiration. Fall is coming!! |

| Beautiful and it goes so well with your home. You have a lovely home and your fall centerpiece certainly does reflect the warmth and charm of your room. It looks like there is a pot of coffee brewing and a pumpkin pie in the oven. |

It looks Wonderful and Earthy! I love the glass on the hurricane lamp, beautiful! Yes, change of the frilly lacy thing underneath. You need something more earthy, darker, textured and masculine. At thanksgiving time throw some nuts in there with a nut cracker nearby, and it will double as a nut basket as well...Keep up the creativity, you're good at it! Joann |

At first I thought the same thing about the white doily but then I figured OP put it there to tie in with the white chairs. ??? That's an easy change to make, since everything is inside the basket. |

| THanks guys! I will definately post more pics this afternoon. My house is pretty much all colonial country. I have fooled with different fabric on the table but will go deeper into my closets and see what I unearth! to Answer the question on the pumpkins - they are handmade by Stein . Most of the things I do buy are handcrafted - makes them unique and I like a different look. I WISH I could make these things myself - I am the nut that ends up spending 40.00 for one small fabric pumpkin!!! And what is in the hurricane is the candle resting on a tin plate. The candle is UNBELIEVABLE in scent. A certain company makes these candles and they are incredible in scent. I will post more pics this afternoon. Thanks! |

| Oh wow you have a really wonderful home! I love the garden and those great rocks ! And the lovely fall touches and the beautiful furniture. Well it is all really very homey and comfortable. You are in GA...? I am in AL. next door :) I particularly love the pie safe and the chest in the bedroom too. Thank you for naming the furniture maker. You didn't mention the candlemaker...can you ? I am always wanting really fragrant ones. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. c |

| Actually I am in PA but had the furniture shipped. The candles I have purchased either on line at http://www.americanheritageshop.com/ they are the 19.95 ones and have the rolled spices on top. They are divine!! This is a really cute on line store, got some of my stein fruit there too! Thanks for all the nice comments... |

I just love your home and all the wonderful touches. We have similiar tastes. I love the lamp on your buffet. I see you have many pieces of painted furniture.. Did you purchase all of them, or were some made for you? I only ask, because I've got similar pieces, that my DH made. Thanks for the website on the candles. I'm going to check it out. Once again...loved your home, and thanks for sharing. |

| SLinkey - please post pics of your place! Hard to find country decor inspiration sometimes..Oh if only I married a carpenter..The money I could have saved! :) The majority of the furniture is handdone just not by us! Eddy West did most of the main pieces (wwww.eddywest.com) and Johnson was the manufacturer of the uphostered pieces. They are mostly found in primitive/colonial stores...The chest in my bedroom is Broyhill - the Grandma's Attic collection, I like their stuff a lot! |
RE: I made my own fall table centerpiece

| Just curious...I see a lot of Longaberger baskets? Are you a collector or a consultant. I'm a consultant. I just love baskets...and they look so beautiful in your home. |
RE: I made my own fall table centerpiece
| | |
| Thanks so much. Funny you ask about baskets. I am a Longaberger consultant but a lot of the baskets you see Are Linda Searcy Baskets - they are handcrafted and not as sturdy as Longaberger but I LOVE THEM. The ones on my kitchen table and dining room table are by her as well as the huge one on my red armoire in the family room. They are pretty pricey - more so than Longaberger but REALLY unique. I love Longaberger in the kitchen and as a "Work basket" - I have A LOT in my kitchen but for decor, I prefer the Linda Searcy Baskets...Thanks for noticing!!!! |

| Your home is so lovely. I really like your painted furniture especially the armoire and the buffet. It was brilliant of you to paint the mantel black! Thanks for posting! |

| Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home with us, so many times I'll look at a nicely furnished home and think, why didn't I do that or pick out that furniture? Actually I am going to buy a recliner (need to keep my feet up more) and may do a fabric like your sofa which I like ever so much. I plan on getting a recliner made by Smith Bros. of Berne, IN (they really have a great line of furniture including leathers and fabrics, custom) or a chair and half circle ottoman with nailheads, really nice. Thanks! |

| scottmel, your home is lovely and you have decorated it soooo well. Would you mind telling me the species of the weeping tree in your yard? I want one like this but did not know what species it is. Thank you |
RE: I made my own fall table centerpiece
| | |
| Gagesgranny - I have in my notes my tree is a SNOW FOUNTAIN CHERRY - hope that helps with the species. I have not had it bloom yet in the spring - just had the landscaping done this summer so I am anxious to see it. It is the cutest looking little tree...And thanks for the furniture info Susan209 - I love finding new places to shop or look. I tend to stick with old favorites so thanks for the info on the other. And thanks to everyone else for such nice comments. |

| Scottmel, I love your home. I love, love love folk art, and your home is the perfect canvas for all the wonderful folk art accessories you have. Beautiful furniture too. Just stunning... a very homey and happy atmosphere throughout. Congrats on a job well done.! Joann |

| I'm a fan of Eddy West's furniture also. Did you know the owner is the son of Joyce Eddy who founded Habersham Plantation furniture? Claire |
