I had never heard of a bow house before

It kind of looks like a hobbit house from the outside. I love the inside as I'm getting too old for my SQF.

Here is a link that might be useful: Reproduction Nantucket bow house

That is a beautiful home! The price doesn't look too bad either.

You see a few of them in the Boston suburbs and they are usually listed as a bow roofed cape.

What a charming house. I love the kitchen and all of the fireplaces.

I have a house plan book that feature historic cape cod style homes. There are 3 plans in the book that have the same roof shape as this house. In this book it refers to these homes as an "old ships bottom roof house". One of the plans looks alot like this house including the garage. I wish I could see the other sides of it.

They were built in towns on bays and navigable rivers by the same people, at least in part, who built ships. Ergo the bow. :)

There was also some business that was selling plans for bow-roofed capes through the 70's in the back of popular mechanics, etc, beside the ads for building your own hovercraft and bulldozer.

Francy I thought I liked my home until I saw that one.
Shame on you for making me fall in love again!

I have never heard of a bow home and I loved everything

Anele, aren't you from around Chicago? Yes, it's weird that it's out in the sticks!

When we were first married, my husband and I lived in a tiny, original 1700's bow house in CT. The upstairs ceilings were incredible. I am trying to find an online pic to no avail. I hope it is still standing.

Thanks for posting the picture.
