That is lovely. I wonder what the wood in the kitchen cabinets is. It looks like the same that was original to our house. We replaced the kitchen cabinets with natural cherry but still have it in the utility room, pantry, built-in book cases and interior doors. It seems like a wood and stain that was common then and not used much now. We've never been able to figure out what it is. Any ideas?

I wonder if the cabinets were originally self pull. The shiny (nickle?) pulls in the kitchen seem a bit busy to me. I'm not a fan of self pulls - not as easy to use and over time the wood gets marred by the hand oils, but something less shiny and quieter would be better for that kitchen.

Cool.....but those small -tile counters would be a bear to clean!

I thought the same thing as joanie about those counters. I also dislike the color of the ceilings--really feels like they are closing in. Like the views though. The exterior wood hasn't been very well maintained.

Could the cabinets be Fir?

I agree with the tile counters, hard to wipe off. Maybe a quartz in the same dark grey with an eased edge.

I love it.

Tile on kitchen counters looks like the same ones used around the bathtub, and not all that different from the bathroom sink surround either. Only thing I recognise for sure in the kitchen is the late-'60s Hobart/Kitchenaid dishwasher - I can't believe how many of these I see in open houses I visit. Those things were indestructable. The small, old oven looks out of place in that kitchen though. But I wouldn't be looking at that kitchen anyway; I'd be looking out the windows.....
