Is it a free-standing tub, or does it have a shower too?

I found the same thing when we were redoing our bathroom about 5 years ago. I haunted the bathroom forum and asked people specific questions about tubs I had found online but couldn't see in person. I found I was able to get most of my questions answered, but finding the tub was probably the most difficult part of our remodel.

If it's a free-standing tub you're looking for, look at salvage places, like in the link below, and get a good, cast-iron tub.

The new stuff is horribleâ¦and/or very expensive.

I was a little frustrated too. The showroom we were at had many different kinds of jetted/whirlpool tubs, regular plain old tubs. But I was really wanting a cool free standing tub. The one we ended up picking was a Victoria and Albert Amalfi tub. And we picked it because it was in the showroom and we were able to actually sit in it.

After being disappointed with local offerings, I did a lot of research in the Bathroom forum and other places online. Once I narrowed down the general style I wanted, we drove to several showrooms within a 65 mile radius that had a good selection of tubs to touch and feel. That made the decision much, much easier. New, cast iron, giant, and expensive is what I bought.

Yep, I had this problem. I ordered something without being able to test it. Thankfully I found it to be comfortable.
