Interesting stuff.

When I get around to replacing my range, I will also replace the countertop on the island. I think I want to do wood because we eat at the island. I'd like another material, as yet undetermined, for the perimeter cabinets. I wouldn't do stainless because, not only is it cold and industrial, I have a stainless electric tea kettle that gets smudges and I don't even touch it in those spots. How does it get smudges?! I don't want a countertop that looks smudged and fingerprinted all the time. Maybe by the time I get to this project the fenwhatever stuff will be mainstream and not pricey. Although the ceramic without grout lines is a possibility. Or maybe by the time I get to this there will be newer, better, and cheaper (ha!) stuff for me to consider.
