I would put a sofa, unless a sofa is going elsewhere. If so, I would do modern chairs in fabric pulling in the colors of your painting over the bench. Pretty room!

This is such a pretty space; I remember your dilemma trying to place your chairs. If I remember correctly, this room is the pathway from the door to the rest of the house? I just can't picture furniture placed in front of the window, facing the chairs that isn't going look too far away from the chairs - esp if you have to leave a walkway.

I know you rejected the idea and I don't recall why, but in one of your old threads several of us suggested placing the chairs facing each other, with other seating under the shelves. That would give you a passage way from the door and a cohesive conversation area.

I would also suggest a sofa. I might put the sofa under the shelves and the chairs in front of the window. Your chairs, art and decor are all light colors: white, silver, gray, light blue. I'd stick with the light tones for additional furniture.

You are right, it is right near the frontdoor and there does need to be some passage space. My concern is that I don't really like the block the windows with any furniture, but the window begins at 18" high so that's impossible not to do. I remember you suggesting putting the barcelona facing the window like it is now,but then another barcelona directly across from it on the opposite wall, as opposed to the barcelonas being side by side as they are now.

I just feel like putting a couch horizontal to the shelves next to 1 barcelona and then 1 barcelona across it on the other side will look funky.

Just not sure what route I need to take here....maybe a sofa under the chairs would be a good idea.

Barcelonas side by side perpendicular to and next to the window (as opposed to next to the shelf wall). . Love seat opposite them perpendicular to and next to the window. Cocktail table in the middle. This way the passage runs next to the shelf wall. The seating area is totally distinct from the passage.

Putting your chairs in front of the window facing each other is not going to block the window, it's going to make it a part of the arrangement and enhance your view. If you are walking through, you will be above the furniture looking out the window. And if you are seated, if the furniture is perpendicular to and next to the window you will see out of it fully. The worst arrangement for blocking the window is to leave your chairs where they are and add more furniture under the window. Then when you are seated in your chairs you will lose the lower half of the window view and the couch under the window will just look at the wall and there will be a walkway between them.

Actually, this is what I thought I suggested...Barcelona's facing each other in front of the window. You could have a small scale sofa or loveseat pulled up and the passageway behind them.
