A magnet won't stick to brass.

It's a Colonial Revival fixture from the teens or 1920s.

The pendants look like they would take a shade with a 2-1/4" fitter. The Murray Feiss shades fit, but they aren't really that appropriate. (The fitter sizes have stayed pretty standard. Those are for over bathroom vanity of recent vintage)

Look at the Rejuvenation lighting site for shades.

It's probably some brass with some brass plated pot metal parts.

You guys are awesome. Do you think this will fit in my 1942 brick colonial revival house? The light is quite a bit older than the house. Is that a problem?

The current dining room light is original (I think as it matches other fixtures in the house). It is that milk glass with the raised dots. Can't believe I can't think of what it's called. It's just too cutesy for me and not elegant like the rest of the dining room but I do feel a little bad replacing it. Like I'll hurt my house's feelings and tick her off.

Great buy! I think you have a pan-light from the 1920's. I agree that the shades are not original. If you Google pan-lights, you will see many different shades (most not original either).

You can soak it in a tub of white vinegar or ammonia for an hour or so to remove most of the tarnish.

You must mean you have a hob nail milk glass fixture. I like this light better too. They sell glass shades at House of Antique Hardware and Historic Houseparts with the latter having some less costly choices. I personally would be scouring eBay and etsy. Can't tell if you have 4 or 5 lights.
