Are you happy with your Overstock rug?
In your search, did you happen on any rug sources you liked in the Bay Area?

Oaktown, I've now gotten two rugs from Overstock and yes, I am very happy with them (once we decided we weren't buying heirloom quality, just buying "décor", it was easier). The rugs we got are both "brand name", one Safavieh and one Barclay Butera so Overstock was just the re-seller (at very good prices, I might add - half what I would have paid for the same rug elsewhere). My DIL got several rugs from Overstock and wasn't happy with the color of any of them (maybe my computer monitor shows color better than hers).

I will say that ABC across from Roche Bobois in the SF design district has a very nice selection, but they were one of the reasons I asked the question in the first place, since it was one of their rugs that I loved that was "originally $30,000, but today, only $12,000". They have what appears to be a permanent going out of business sign on the store.

If you're looking for traditional style (we were looking for contemporary), the Turkish rug store (also going out of business) on 9th street around Folsom has a good selection.

Macys in San Francisco has a very good selection (again ranging from $200 to $25,000).

I forgot one - HD Buttercup on Townsend has a good selection too.

I also am not looking for heirloom quality -- or wouldn't be considering buying from the parking lot of Home Depot :-) -- but just want to figure out how to be comfortable that whatever we get is not terrible quality.
