Progress Pics: Guest BR, need lampshade help

We have finally put the guest BR back together for the most part. The walls are SW Celery. I have ordered the Marimekko quilt that is on its way. The sheets are here. I have not yet hung up the wall art. I think it's safe to do so.

BTW, I will paint the mahogany dresser leaving the top, but not sure when I will be able to do this.

The BR set is called Broyhill Fontana. This was DH's former set, and when we stayed at ski lodge for my niece's wedding last summer, all the guest rooms had this furniture, LOL. BTW, we could use a matching chest of drawers if anyone has one!

Trying to find lamp shades to work with this. I have a simple cream bell-shaped on in the master BR on this mate for this lamp.

Help appreciated.

I have that second one on my BR lamps, and I think it is WAY too blue, and dressy. I think with the colored walls and colorful bedding, simple white would be better. Black may be interesting, too. It is a pretty color on the walls, and I LOVE the bedding!

I had a really hard time finding green! When I was not looking, I saw tons of green. I went to BB&B, Target, World Market, and Lowe's. These are from Lowe's.

Yay! The Marimekko bedding has arrived! Maybe still leaning towards the B&W lampshade.

I LOVE that bedding in your room. I don't think you've found the right lampshade yet, but maybe you can photo them next to the bedding. I think I'd love a plain black or white shade...maybe I'd spray paint the second one black so some of the pattern would show through, but it wouldn't be as strong.

I think I would look for some cool coordinating fabric ribbon and make a wrapped lampshade. I've linked a blog showing an example below.

I think black would be smashing! Love what you have so far!

Thanks. I love the bedding!

I like this one from LampsPlus. The mate of this lamp in our MBR has this style shade in cream. This shape looks good with it.

RE: Progress Pics: Guest BR, need lampshade help--ooh!

BLack ribbon would be awesome, too. Would need to pick up glue gun.

I was thinking a black shade too. The one you posted is very cute, but for that price, you can go to Target and pick up a whole new lamp & shade, yes?

I love your wall color and your bedding. Marimekko makes the neatest designs. The Celery paint is spot on with the bedding! You should e-mail a pic to the company!

You say you will be painting the dresser. The bed too? What color? I think shiny black would look amazing! The shape of your headboard is really cute, but the wood painted black would be so sassy and would really say, "GSciencechick!" (*I* think!)

Black and white photos of large flower blooms matted in white & in black frames, would be a cute touch for artwork.

That bedding looks phenomenal with the wall color. I think a black and white shade would be great, love the idea of ribbon trim.

Thanks for the great feedback. I had to run some errands, and I returned the lampshades.

Stinky, no plans to paint the bed and nightstand. One of the reasons I went with the Celery was that I thought it might go well with the orange tones in the furniture. So, I will just do the antique dresser in colors TBD. Of course, I start back to work for the fall semester next week, so I don't know when that will happen. Maybe I can turn the dresser into a multiple-weekend project.

I like the idea of B&W botanicals over the headboard! I really need something there.

FWIW, I ordered this lampshade from Overstock. If it doesn't work, I will return it.

I also visited a local shop who said they are getting in some black and green shades in a few weeks.

Seems I'm one of the few people who like color on a lampshade.

Is this the only light source in the room, or one of only a few? If so, the black shade will not allow enough light through. ***Sigh*** I know this from personal experience. I sadly had to replace several lovely dark shades with white/cream ones in order to be able to have enough light to walk across the room.

If it is only access lighting, then the dark shade would be lovely and striking.

There is also a floor lamp, and I may buy another smaller lamp for either the dresser or nightstand. So, luckily, not the only source of light. There is no overhead lighting in this room either.

Why not white with some green & black ribbon or fabric glued on it? Maybe you could also spray paint the inside either gold or silver depending on the other metals in the room. I love your choice of bedding.
