And I sigh.

A perfect example that it takes a fine eye to successfully mix traditional and contemporary...this designer clearly didn't have it.

It's so odd it almost looks like a series of photoshopped images.

The interior décor is way too self-conscious for my tastes. Not everything has to be selected for maximum commentary.

Then I notice things like the andirons that aren't installed correctly in front of the fireplace. It's like they were placed there because they knew they belonged to a fireplace but they didn't really know how. I hate to make flash diagnoses, but I will make one anyway. I think these people wanted to impress people but they didn't want to do their homework in the process.

For a house on the market, you'd think they'd declutter a bit. You can't see the house for the decor, which is so jarring it made me dizzy.

I do not like it.

I'm no expert, but seems like a real mish-mash. And the kitchen looks builder-grade.

I'll take it for sure. BUT I'd junk the "art" work because I'm just not sophisticated enough to appreciate it. And some of the furniture is okay but I'd rather he take it all with him along with the art. The ceiling painting is very iffy. Leave me the rugs for sure. I also have a major issue with the bedroom cornice and the skanky carpet on the stairs. That yellow in the entry needs to take a little Valium too.

I'd love to see what palimpsest would do with it. I'll move in when he's done with it.

Calls into quiestion the "get art that you love and it will all work together" theory?

Odd--rather as if they decided just to ignore the house itself, and put in the things they liked, whether or not they had any relationship to the house--
Do they have two (ugly) kitchens?
