You can do either as the walnut is very neutral. What else is going in the room? That may sway you be it other fabrics, art, whatever.

After painting a dozen different colors on the wall (looks like a patchwork quilt), I've changed my mind and think I going with grey-white to better contrast with the wood floors. The greige was too much brown. (Figures, after I find greiges I like - I change my mind.)
