Galvanized Pipe curtain rods

I am building a pergola and want outdoor curtains hanging from it at least at the corners. I decided to use galvanized pipe since it should stand up the elements well.

There are many things online about doing this. One thing I am unclear on, is if you use 90 degree angles, flanges and threaded pipe, how do you get the curtains down? I assume you have to unscrew the flange which seems like a lot of trouble. Otherwise, how can you get the pipe in and out?

I was thinking of using tees at each end of the pipe one size larger than the pipe I use as the rod (1" tee, 3/4" pipe) then end caps on the pipe. Then I could easily remove the pipe/curtains by unscrewing the end cap.

Any other suggestions?
