How much shine do you want? Generally, eggshell has less shine than satin, but that can vary with the brand of paint too.

Thanks Marti - I'm such a novice I don't know the answer to that question -- not sure what I want in there, was hoping the majority was in agreement on sheen for bedrooms -- its gray so at first I thought more light was needed, but it's such a light gray not sure that's an issue -- teenager's room - eggshell can be wiped up a bit right? just not scrubbed?

the glossier the harder it is to get a nice paint job as, each time you go over a paint with sheen, the more sheen it gets.

BM Aura matte is beautiful and wipeable. Have it in most of my house, including kids' rooms.

I prefer flat paint on walls.

No formal paint training, but I'm a big fan of eggshell, it's just enough to bring it from flat and it's more forgiving than flat IMO. I had eggshell (Pratt/Lambert) in my former kitchen, adjoining laundry/mud room and the main bath in that home - outright 'scrub-able', and I did that more than once.
