carrington beige with Monterey white trim?

Hi All,

I have been agonizing over colors for my house renovation for months. I chose Montery WHite for the cabinets and thought it would be good to use this same white for trim throughout the main floor (somewhat open to kitchen)

I need a nice warm neutral for the living room -- which is next to and opens to kitchen, and am deciding between cornice tan and Carrington beige. The cornice tan seems to read a little yellow -- the Carrington beige seems to have a very sublte green undertaone. I like both, but the Carrington does not offer much contrast with the mOntery white. Will this work? Also, I have a very dramatic crown molding and a large, lowish ceiling. Should I paint the ceiling Monterey white as well, but in a flat sheen (crown semi gloss) or go whiter on the celining?

In my house, monterey white is very creamy and borders on yellow. I have monterey white on my walls and bright white trim. I feel like it is one of those chameleon colors that reflects what is around it.

I would look at the hc-27 color strip and see if there is anything a bit darker that might work. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will give you ceiling advice. I have no idea what you should do :)

Do you want a monochromatic look? Or more contrast? Just a thought, the Historical Colors in Benjamin Moore are always more expensive. Does it matter to you? You may want to choose a different white for your trim and save $. I don't have daylight right now to look at colors (Acadia White?). Not sure how much trim paint you need, but the cost can add up. If you want contrast the lighter trim will allow you to choose your favorite and not worry about contrast.

I can't comment on Monterey White but I have Carrington Beige as trim for BM Rattan (as suggested by our local BM paint store guy). It works but it definitely has a green undertone - more towards olive in our FM - so definitely be aware of that.
