Looks like pine from this distance.

Is it a bit pale for pine? It does look like pine, but white washed maybe? Or it could just be the lighting.

I think it's pine. It's probably just a native species of pine that looks different than what we have in the U.S.

It's definitely from a coniferous wood, but I don't know it it's pine, fir, larch... or what. I'd like to make something out of wood like this, or that approximates it -- the kind of tight grain and the color. I'm thinking maybe carefully selected Doulas fir?

Could it be spruce? Looks like the photo below, to me.
Here is a link that might be useful: untreated spruce

Ah, yes, it does look like it might be spruce. I wonder if spruce turns yellow like pine does, with oil or polyurethane....

I have a few antique English pine pieces and an Irish one; and I would bet money that it's pine. It also looks like it's had a light wash of a sheer white stain.

I agree, definitely some kind of coniferous species (pine, etc)

I'm pretty sure it's Douglas fir, we have floors like that in our lake house. We stained them.

" I wonder if spruce turns yellow like pine does, with oil or polyurethane..." The POLYURETHANE is what yellows, NOT whatever surface it is applied to.
