| Want to see what followed me home from the Estate Auction today? :D I've always wanted one!
My DH is going to sand blast it and then I need to pick out a color for him to spray it for me. It's in super, super shape though, very sound .. just surface rust, no pitting.

I loooove that! I always wanted one also. I got a wooden one from a neighbor who was moving a few yrs ago. it needs sanded and repainted. i'll have to get me one of those rechargeable sanders tho... a metal one would never do in the heat of AZ summers. |

Steph .. I would think a metal one in AZ would be very hot too! Even here unless it was under cover in a shaded area, it would be hot. My DH is going to strip it today for me and hopefully have it in primer by this evening if all goes well. So I need to get cracking on picking out a color to paint it.

The comments on the heat factor got me to thinking that perhaps a colour in the cool family would be mentally inviting to come take a rest in the shade. Depending on your house colours, you might want to take a look at a colour that makes you feel refreshed. To me that might be soft fresh grey/blue, watermelon, sherbet, creamsicle, etc. Just turn it into something that speaks to you.

| Found this last week and thought of both you and AJ. Perfect place to post it! I just love this floor! (and the whole combo, too).

Squirrel .. that floor is awesome! I wonder if it's a painted floor, it's beautiful playing off the white cabs, stainless, marble and subway tiles. Debb .. thanks for the color suggestions! We got the glider stripped yesterday, but not primered. There was 9 layers of paint on it! Most being white, one layer was depression era green. It's down to bare metal now and a waiting primer.

We have one that is very similar. The basketweave pattern is a bit larger and on the diagonal. The pattern on ours is only on the back, not the seat. We also have a matching chair. We bought them years ago from a little antique *JUNK* shop. LOL They were very rusty but otherwise in good shape. We had them sandblasted and my hubby painted them with auto paint. Ours are a dark green. We live in the deep (HOT) south, but they are on a side of the patio that gets shade late in the day. Love them! I always keep my eye out for one of the swings. tina

Yes, it is a wood floor painted in a glossy finish. Thought you might like it : )

Tina .. your set sounds wonderful! I'm not positive yet, but I may just paint this white and have a box seat cushion made in a fun pattern for it.

Oh, Zip!!! Swoon! It's so very wonderful, and I'd be insanely jealous, were it not for the fact that I'm happy for you! What a wonderful, nostalgic piece, and I can hardly wait to see how you transform it! (I'm envisioning that robin's egg blue color that I can't seem to get enough of on the settee, with vintage barkcloth pillows in a bold tropical print!) Get to painting, girl! I'm anxious for the end result! :-D Squirrel - I hate to sound like a weirdo (ok, so you probably already know that I am!) -- but I soooooo want to just lie down and roll around on that delicious floor. Something about it ... Well, it's just positively luscious!

Makes perfect sense, AJ. I want to breeze through in bare feet. It's a beach house.

OH WOW !! I missed this post when I was in NYC !! We have twins !!!! How great. I wish my DH could sand blast...I will have to pay to have mine done. So what color are you going to use??? I haven't decided yet...now that I read all these cool color ideas....and I haven't used auto paint. Can you get it in spray cans at the auto repair stores or where ??? Great find ZIP !!!

Squirrel I have that picture on my computer, isn't that the most gorgeous color on the floor. And with that Viking stove it looks smashing. Zipdee that color would look pretty on your glinder, don't you think? That color is almost considered a neutral color now and would go with anything almost. ....Jane

Thanks Jen .. I know your time will come soon to find the perfect glider for your porch and when it does I can't wait to see what color you paint it. Caroline .. I think it's so cool you found a glider too! I'm so waiting to see what color you chose, it alot of fun thinking about all the different colors and how it would look on them. Jane .. I'm pretty sure the glider will be going on the front porch. How do you guys think a pale aqua would look against the yellow? Part of me says play it safe with the glider color, then jazz it up with the fabric on the box cushion and pillows.

How do you guys think a pale aqua would look against the yellow? Divine! Part of me says play it safe with the glider color, then jazz it up with the fabric on the box cushion and pillows. What is this "play it safe" of which you speak? LOL! I hear ya, but I think a punch of color on the glider itself would just be heavenly against your yellow house!
