The plates remind me of that scene from Mary Poppins?

I like the palette. But are those men-recliners?

Up the liability insurance for when the plates fall on top of the guests.

But just think how handy it would be if the conversation lagged. You could bring out the peanut butter so guests could spread it on little crackers and see who could flick the crackers up and get them to stick on the plates. Bonus points for landing right in the middle of the center medallion. Then let the birds out of their cages (surely there are birds in gilded cages somewhere in this house) and watch them eat the crackers!

Is this a TV room or are the couch and chairs facing the Great Big Plate?

    Echo to wise words above:

    No. Just no.

((whilst my inner voice is screaming Hell NO!))

I'm not a fan of the color palate, furnishings or style of the room, the style of plates or the rigid placement of said plates, but I still think it's a cool idea. If the plates were placed in a more random fashion, in a funkier room, and with less "white space" between the plates it could work and be striking.

Love the license place ceiling you posted, nosoccermom, and I think that works because the hallway is a tighter space, the license plates are contiguous and the trim, wall color and ceiling fixtures are on the funky side vs. the frou-frou side.

They should have hung the chandelier upside down so it would look like a candelabra. Those big leather recliners add just the perfect touch.

Hmmm...I'm out of storage space and wondering where I could keep my extra china...

Of course, when I hear upper plates, I think something else entirely.

I love plates as décor but holy moly there is no way that plates belong on the ceiling!

The whole, large, apartment is old-school formal traditional. The bedrooms are fully upholstered, essentially. I don't dislike this one but it must take an awful lot of vacuuming. I am sure someone is paid to do so.

For some reason I automatically thought of the song "Be Our Guest" from the movie Beauty and the Beast.

Here is a link that might be useful: Be Our Guest

I like the bedroom you just posted, actually. But I can imagine I'd die from dust mite allergies.
