Cost of carpet runner on stairs?

Hi. I am looking to have a carpet runner installed on my main staircase. Nothing fancy. Wool carpet. There are 12 steps. The first 2 steps are 39" and the last 6 are 33". Straight staircase - no landing. I received an estimate for the job and it was $2100 for a wool Prestige Mills carpet. This price seems high to me (though I've never bought carpeting before!). Is it? Thanks!

That sounds reasonable to me.

That's about right. I have 13 steps, straight shot as well. Mine was about that or a bit higher. Carpeting is pricey!

Seven years ago I paid about that amount so it sounds reasonable to me.

I paid a bit more over 10 years ago for an oriental runner. It has been great, wears like iron. Go for it!

Our original plan was go without a runner on the stairs, but we hated the thud of the girls going up/down the stairs so added a runner. It was money well spent in terms of peace and quiet.

try stair tread rugs. it can be done with individual tread rugs for much less.
