| plz tell me I'm crazy. I live in a small rental cottage, the owner is soooo nice to me. he does everything-fixes,replaces, even let me pick out the new paint color. (never had my own home.) and now... so bummed, it looks like dark green gray mud. weird color (not at all like the sample I had on the back for months) what would you do?? I feel I should have gone with my gut and picked blue it's a rental, but I'm going to be here for years--or until he sells which most likely would not happen (I can take all the fancy stuff I've added anyway) but I'll be here for 10 yrs + and I know he won't screw me over. but still......... I hate the color I want to cry!!!! any advice?????????????? |
Follow-Up Postings:
| Well, of course you could re-paint, but I actually like the description of the color. I think it would make an awesome background for other colors to shine against. Use lots of white everything to lighten and brighten it. I remember something designer Sarah Richardson once said which when paraphrased recommended that if you can't have something you really want, then throw out all the conceptions you had for the design and use the element you can have as the basis for a new design. |

| Fun, that's good advice. Take the color as a given. Now let's see what we can do with it that you might like? can you post a photo |

| Does the color look anything like the one I am attaching. I love this house with the white trim. Also, if you have room, consider planting lots of white flowers. They really show up against a color like this. |

| ++ tuesday 2008 +++ that house is gorgeous. I don't think mine is quite that green- but close. I have all ultra white trim. bright just like that photo. I'm reading everybody's comments.... and my mother screams it's beautiful. I'm going to have to learn to love it. so I need help-- one MAJOR item not done yet but very soon-like by this weekend is the front door. It's going to be red if I don;t act (I CHOSE red-whhich now of course I'm nervous about) but I have to figure out how to get a photo on here. Help with that anyone? I have hardly ANY landscape -well no mature, I planted every single item within the last 6 months. So let me take a good photo or two and help me get them on here. THANKS so much, you al are the best! |

| Seriously consider a white door also - pretty please! Or a yellow! I usually love red doors - but I'm not seeing it with the gray green. |
| I would agree that a red door probably wouldn't be my personal choice. I think almost any other color would be better, but make sure that it is a hue that works with the color value of the green. |

| i'm working on it--I found the instructions, but I am trying to get the photo directly here instead of you having to go to the link on photo bucket |
| Depends on the dark muddy grey green. That's our house's signature color, and I LOVE it with a deep rich barn red. You MAY need some white to set off the red. Or if that's not possible, a rich deep yellow may be the way to go. But PICTURES! |

| ok HELP, I read the instructions, my head's spinning. I have the photos uploaded to photo bucket . but HOW do I put on this post?? I've seen actual pictures on posts, not just the pb link. |
| When you are in Photobucket there is an HTML code that you can copy and paste right into your post! |

| It's really hard to see the color on my monitor, but it certainly looks dark. That's not a bad thing! As others have noted, your flowers, pots, etc. will pop against that background. I'd want to fix the brick pathway, put some pots of geraniums on the stoop by the door. I could see some pretty curtains-lacy panels or white panels tied back. You could definitely use some curb appeal, but the paint is not a stumbling block toward achieving it, imo. Good news is you have loads of potential! I think it will be fun bringing some cheer & charm to your little cottage! |
| That house color is just fine; it just seems to not be what you expected. I hope you get used to it and grow to enjoy it. :) How about a yellow door? Or, if you like blue, a light blue that pops? I don't like the idea of red and green together (unless it is Christmas.) The door would be easy to repaint if your first choice isn't what you love. |
| I like the color and it looks so crisp and clean with the white trim. I think some window boxes would look great too and you could make them white or bring in some of the red. What a nice landlord to let you pick the color and do so much to the house. |

| http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n280/SFOCindy/IMG_1307-1.jpg this is a closer pic of the green with some sun on it http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n280/SFOCindy/IMG_1297.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n280/SFOCindy/IMG_1313.jpg http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n280/SFOCindy/IMG_1316.jpg now this cottage is quite small -obviously. the top attic vent between the corbels needs to be painted white, and the ugly porch is going to be covered with the pavers as well-tan,charcoal,red hues in pavers. |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 17:22
| darn, I don't know why the images didn't show this time :(((( but yes there are 2 white window boxes with same smaller corbels that span the length of the 2 front windows waiting to be put back up. |
- Posted by stinky-gardener (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 17:26
| OH, he's installing pavers for you? Great! That will add a lot to the look. Would Mr. Landlord be open to planting some different things in the beds? Those straggly shrubs are doing nothing for the landscape. |

| thanks FUNCOLORS!!!!!!! I just realized you got them on here --you're the best! Can you help with the others?? I took a pic of the red sample on the door, but somehow it didn't transfer from phone to computer. It is a nice red, towards the burgundy side. I have 2 Don Juan (red) rose climbers to go up the posts. I have to put new sod in, and lots of plants in the from by the house. and a rail on each side of the small porch is going in. -a traditional wood one painted white of course. the porch is just too high and my nephew jumps into the dirt ,ug. So there is going to be lots of white, and such a small house, a was thinking LOTS of color. ??? |

| He's letting me pick all landscaping. the funky shrubs surround the front yard will be a nice hedge in a year-trust me. and I need privacy!! the front area by the house needs lots of stuff (overgrown salvia now) but i have white carpet roses, a purple foxglove, those 2 red rose climbers, a light purple phlox, (all these in their pots still, but don't :have to be planted. There are 2 lilac hibiscus tree bushes up by the the windows one on each side but one may not make it-got nicked big time by ladders. A bronze wall mount mailbox, and door hardware (french bronze) and house numbers (french bronze) still need to go up. I want to just jam lots of color in the window boxes. I do have to say that white/green house looks beautiful that was posted earlier, which would mean I need to stick to all white/cream plants, but I have no mature trees etc except that baby flowering plum (dark maroon leaves) at the front of the property between the hedge bushes. it'll take a long time for that to get big. I could go either all shades of green and white OR punch it out with lots of color if I go with the red door. I'm going to try to take a pic of that color when I get back home in an hour. (babysitting nephew right now lol-he's stomping on his OWN garden) |

| I tried one of your photo links and it said that the site was malicious, so I got out. But, when you go to your pictures in Photobucket and hover over one with your mouse, a box should open up below the picture with 4 options - Email & IM If you go to the soft yellow box to the right of HTML code, and left click on it, you should see 'copied'. Then you come here and paste that code. You'll see approx. 5 rows of code here. It will look like code until you click the Preview button before posting. When you click Preview Message, and look at your post, you should see your photos. I just put one here from my Photobucket album. You can put many pictures in a post - I just skip a line and leave a blank row between each set of 'picture code'. |
| That is just so darn cute. I love that color on it! I will defer front door color advice to others--I think red might be wrong, but I don't know what would be best. I hope you can get over the color not being what you pictured. It's really a good choice for the house. |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 18:07
| a yellow door? with the pavers that have lots of red accent and red roses? to be honest, I've never seen that combo. never thought of it, but the landlord has bought the red paint. I'll head home and take a pic of it on an area on the old door. |
| I think that a rusty or brick red would work well. |

| I really think your door should be orange or gold. Have you seen Lauren's door on the purestylehomeblog? I'll try to link. I think her house is similar to yours. BTW I absolutely love the colour of your house. I think it gives your tiny cottage a chic presence that blue could never achieve. |

| ok, here's a few more pics. (thanks for the tips, so here I go on the posting of pics) but wait, i don't have the bottom 2 links, just email/IM and direct link. ??? here's the red sample on door up close here's the red, free, and white trim from a step back here's the house with more sun (the green changes) and here's the hedge bushes that are growing-which will form one nice 4' tall hedge around the front with the height still able to see color on house and in plans (the red is from HD, "dozen roses" is it's name. It really is a nice red, but then I need to put lots of color in the yard along the front of the house, plus the red door is the same color as Don Juan climbing roses, and they bloom all summer, not just once. |

| orangey doors - I don't think landlord will go for that. as it is, I had to beg for non-white door, so we decided on the red I picked out. It has to be red or white |

| I love the house color! Is the new door fir? Instead of paint you could use Marine varnish. |
| I love the color and it reminds me of the leaves/stems of lavender...I'd do a lavender door....
| I suggested yellow, but that was before I saw the pavers. I agree it probably would clash with the pavers. |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 18:58
| Thanks for all your support on the house color. I'm feeling better, not in tears :) yes the new door is fir, but the house faces the southwest, landlord does;t want stain, he wants paint (lower maintenance). and remember, the porch will also be the pavers in a random pattern (and the sides too, that porch is soooo messed up.) plus the top of the house area, attic vent between the 2 corbels up there needs to be white I told him. and a white wood railing on the porch sides |

| you guys are saving my life..if you only knew! I LOVE you all. and the bronze hardware will look ok???? |
| You are so lucky that your landlord is taking your suggestions, and I think that it will be adorable with the red front door. It would look great with some window boxes or planters on the porch with red geraniums, and you can have so much fun decorating it for Christmas! If you plant any flowers in the yard stick with red and white to further enhance the house. |

| I don't think the color is bad at all. I think landscaping will make you happy. Buy some pots, add some color.... it needs some yellow, either pots or flowers....Great little cottage.... |
| Love the new color! And the red door will be smashing against it! :) Hope you post updated pics with the new door color too! :) |

| Just wanted to pop in and say that I really like the new color, especially in contrast to the old. To me it is deep enough to be interesting on such a cute house (especially with the white trim) and yet soothing. Some color from flowers might help add some more life near the house. I'm not a big fan of a red door on a green house, but maybe that's just me. I like the white, though a new door with some detailing will be really nice. |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 19:52
| Thank you forboystoo !!!!!!! wow, if that doesn't speak a million words. I never even looked at it before like that. :))) that beige pink was so old and peeling, the sidewalks,ug, the strange 2in1 bush/half dead on the far right in the pic, and the agave on the left, it took 4' deep of dirt in that entire bed, to dig out and refill with new dirt. the spiky makes you bleed type. yes, I'm in california but not on a street with cactus!! and the flower boxes (redwood ones) had overgrown geraniums and stuff in them (plus were not even sealed or painted) no wonder my landlord owner loves me! I hope I picked the right colors to make him pleased! and I really think once the paver curved sidewalk goes in and the porch redone covered with pavers, I will plant and splash color, all sorts of color--do you all agree?? I want the folks walking down the street (and they do-it;s a street from busy one to elementary school ) so I do want privacy to open my front windows! (hence, the hedge) I sold him on that idea fast. Do you all agree on the attic vent being painted white? and the porch railing going in? I want a nice cozy home :) |
| I love the color! And I can't believe I am saying this but I love the idea of a lavender door! What a cute cottage. |

| my 3 dogs-- I love your house! What are some of those flowers and plants are in front and along the driveway? or I should ask what zone/location you live first huh? I forget things don't grow in all states! I used to have 3 dogs-mini schnauzers :) I miss them so much. but.....I know have 4 cats. (more work I swear than the dogs.) |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 20:02
| Is anyone able to photoshop a red door on the pic? Maybe that will help me make a 100% decision. plus then you all can chime in too. -not too bright red, maybe as close to the sample I have. Someone is a genius out there! LOVE YOU! |
| I would go with a really deep golden yellow door, and then, as others have said, let the red be the accent in the flowers, etc. Red and golden yellow are a great combo, very French country, provencal. Plus the yellow will be a warm balance with the cool grey-green and white. The house is a charmer! I could see a cute little white bench tucked over on the right at an angle, some pretty pots of flowers on either end. |

Is a stained door out of the question ? ![]() |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 20:56
| terricks, my phototbucket page is blue, and it only has the 2 top options not all 4. I don't even have the HTML option just " Email & IM" or" Direct Link" Are we on the same website? forboystoo - I love that stained door with the deck attached to it! but I know I don;t have that option. and whoAAAA that orange door is SCAREY! LOL I'm trying to picture the new door which has panels and glass panes at the top (not flat like in the pic,the old door) and a burgundy rose red color.......I know with the white side rails on the porch and the green vines growing up the posts, the red door won't be TOO much of a scary POP, no????? I just think all white will be TOO much white. Golden yellow is beautiful, but to be honest, I used to have an apt with all french country--pine furniture, yellow blue red everything, I loved it, but after 20 yrs old that, I've now gone to denim, white/whitish furniture, blues, greens, pinks, the floral theme......... no bright colors. but outside I can go for it if i need it. or.........I can keep the subdued romantic feel and maybe a different green or white door and .........oh lord here I go again. no no no, I always love a house to walk by with all sorts of colors. So cottage garden! :) |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Thu, Jun 21, 12 at 21:17
| terriks, I don't know HOW you do that, but thank you!! Are you able to make the attic vent white? Do you have a program on your computer that does this? |
| Cottagecindy, To make the picture visible in your message, insert the code for the email link inside the quote marks in the statement below: |
| I like the idea of a deep lavender door......crisp white window boxes trailing with shades of purple million bells and white begonias; White planters on front stoops filled with similar colors....lavender, white, maybe a touch of yellow. This will give the green a fresh cottage quaint look instead of a barn-like look that a red door might give. (I'm not really a fan of red doors) |
| I don't understand why it looks so orange. The color that I used is very close to the sample of your paint. In fact I tried cutting a rectangle out of your paint sample above and it looked just the same. It's weird, because it's just a rectangle of color and when I move it away from the door the color looks totally different. Anyway that program is on my computer at work. So if I have time tomorrow I will play around a bit more. Or hopefully someone else with some real photoshop skills will help out. I also don't understand why your Photobucket page does not have all the same options. But you can do what suero said with the img src code. BTW, I love the color of the house, and I don't think blue would have looked nearly as good. |

| thanks terricks. I'll check this thread when I come home from work tomorrow-which will be around right now. once again, you guys have all been great. I'll keep updating photos, it's still a fairly blank slate with just hedge bushes and grass,.... but when it comes to gardens I love color! |
| I love the new house color! It's perfect. I think it would look great with a rusty/pumpkin door, but if that's not an option, I'd keep it white. Just my 2 cents. |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Fri, Jun 22, 12 at 1:39
| I'm going to ask my landlord to paint a lot of the old door in the red to actually see it before he paints the new door--good idea? I'm rereading everybody's comments ...don't think a rust/pumpkin/yellow/lavender color would work-he's questioning any color. but remember, the attic vent-all that space between the top corbels, and the porch wood rail will be white. so will the door be "too much white"????? then I look at that house +tuesday2008+ linked us to, makes me think all green, white, cream plants and flowers??? I have no mature trees on the front yard, only the baby red japanese flowering plum I planted. and the pavers have a red hue in them.... they actually come in a green/charcoal color too lol! (calstone pavers) o well...............'ll have him try the red first. good idea? I hope so (crossing fingers) |

| I love the new color! It is very deep and is crisp and clean next to the white. I will photoshop the door for you once my tablet chargest. I think the deep red will look great! You have one fabulous landlord! |
| If you have not picked your red yet, I think this color, BM Cottage red would go nicely. It is a deep burgundy brown red. I have it on my front door. |
| Hi, Cindy! I am in Maine in gardening zone 5. I only plant perennials. Like everyone else - I think your house color is GREAT! We had a camp when I was young that was a green color similar to that and I always loved the deep orange door color, similar to what I have linked below. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Ben Moore Fire Dance
| I actually love that color on your house! Looks great with the white trim and the landscaping. |
| I really like the color and I think the red swatch you have is a good red too. I personally love greenish tones with red unless they are spruce green and red as that to me is the only time it looks like christmas to me. Yours is nowhere near that. I think adding a railing on each side would look really nice, but I would avoid painting the attic vent white. It isn't particularly decorative or something I would want to highlight. Plus if you paint it white the brackets won't be as visible as they are now. I'd rather have the brackets be the decorative detail. |
- Posted by cottagecindy (My Page) on Fri, Jun 22, 12 at 12:07
| lyfia-- that is what I'm wondering about too. The attic vent staying green just doesn't look "finished" ?? and those corbels are very simple ones, they were just installed since I begged for them. What do you all think? paint the attic vents white (like most houses do) OR leave them green????????? I'll listen to everybody! thanks! lyban-- I love that red too! lord this is too much a decision for me.....gulp,,, |
| I haven't read all the replies but I wholeheartedly agree with those that suggest that you stain that gorgeous wooden door! A medium rich brown tone would be absolutely gorgeous, full of character and very rich looking!!!! Trust me! LOL |
| And remember to weed and mulch the planting beds. It will look so much crisper! |
| I think the red door will be great can't wait to see the finished product but I like the vent green so it remains hidden. |
| The red that lyban posted is the exact red I would have suggested. In my local HD, they offer color matching to brands they don't carry. I brought in a swatch of a Benjamin Moore color thinking they would need to scan it. It turned out they only needed the brand name & color. |
| I think the red door will be fabulous and LOVE the color of your rental house now. Your landlord must really like you! |
| I would leave the vent green |
- Posted by stinky-gardener (My Page) on Fri, Jun 22, 12 at 16:37
| Excellent idea Lyban, leave the vent green! Terriks I love the flowers you planted and the door you painted! Cute! |
| LOOOOOOOOVE the green! It's classy and classic and cozy all at the same time. Definitely leave the vent green! If you paint it white, it will call attention to itself for no good reason and spoil the lovely top angle of your front gable. Leave it green! I vote for a classy burgundy door. The glossiest paint you can find. And I want to come visit! It's a fairy tale cottage now!
| Leave the vent green -- creates a smoother line at the top of the peak of the roof. Terricks: Wow!! Amazing virtuals! Well done! :) LOVE the idea of the window boxes! :) |

| Love the cute house, the color, the red for the door, and your plans for the yard! The lavender toned plants you're incorporating along with the reds will be lovely with the siding and door. Another vote for a green vent, too. Good luck with your projects, and many more years of happy partnership with your landlord! |
| I would have done the eaves, under the overhang in the same white as the trim. It has always matched the trim in all the houses I have owned. |
| Yeah, eaves typically match trim. |

| Terricks-you are the bomb! I love what you did.!!!!!!!! I agree with you all-- the attic vent STAYS green. The window boxes are literally just like the ones you did! huge and white! Fred (landlord) had a prof painter with him when they checked out the colors (and the old lead base paint that came off) they discussed the color under the eaves. there is a protocol (I just listened and went "uh huh, uhu huh" anyway, when they are filled in by facia and gutters, the underneath stays the color of the house.I just said whatever, it looks nice this way. -He's the boss, on that bit, he won the argument -i wanted them white too. but he drove me around the neighborhood looking at similar home styles etc, and he was right. I noticed a lot of you also mentioned stain which he won't do, but when i was in osh, i saw a craftsman house with colors on it sort of my idea, but the front door was "painted" a deep brown and of course, the option of the door staying white. Boring no? I love that "white, moon garden" link way at the beginning of the thread, but I really want the house to pop with all sorts of color! maybe on sunset magazine lol!! I'll put on a 2nd coat of the reds, then on sunday i'll post a pic-which someone :) will make the picture come to life and then all your input will be well appreciated!! |

| I really like the green color on the house, it sets the house as part of the landscape so it can be a great backdrop for floral colors in each season. I am one who would like to see the vent painted white because it adds one more feature to add detail and less boxy look. But either way the house looks GREAT! Everyone gets startled when they try a new color or the color is not what they imagined, such an intrusion on our lives to have that amount of different color around us. BUT change is good when it looks this good! |

| I would not paint the vent white. It is not an architectural feature and highlighting it is like highlighting a switch cover. You probably see a lot of white vents because they only come in a couple of colors. I would do the eaves on the porch cover in white. The door color is always a tough call but I think the right red will be nice. If you went with white, you could always use a pretty wreath in any color you like to give you to pop of a contrasting color. One year you might do a yellow wreath with all yellow flowers, another year red, violet, etc. I think it would be fun to change my accent color so easily. |
| I would paint the vent white, but it actually should be round or octagonal for that peak and the rectangular shape of the house. |

| I came home this evening from work to look at the door (old one still on) and see the 2 colors I have on it. well........ the cottage red from BM is a dark brown red even more to a brick red. The color I have picked (and the paint is here/bought-which is dozen roses HD Behr) is a much "brighter" look and more blood red (pink, purple) but more bright pop and has the color in the bricks, the roses I'm using plus I'm going to flood this yard along the house with color. (no flower border along the walkway sorry) it would be nice but.... it's not "my house" and I have to kept it sort of low maintenance for mower. and hedge trimmer. I'll take a pic of the door in the morning and post it--you'll see both colors. I got an email from the boss--he asked my final decision on the vent, I told him to leave it green. I hope I did the right thing. (the other houses with these vents in the neighborhood are painted white-but the vents are a wee bit smaller and perfectly square (and much bigger homes!!), mine you'll note is the shape of a house lol. worse case scenario, i can climb on roof and paint it later no? The eaves everywhere are green -I tried for white but he said no. |

| Thanks! Wow I love that mature tree! I noticed that house has a wall mount mailbox- I'm getting on of those too -to mount on the left of the door side and the address numbers to mount on the right side of the door (not on the trim) |

| thanks jodi !! here are some pics now- the 2 colors to compare= the colors with some foliage around it (remember the porch and step are going to be the stone pavers!!! and here's a close up with the rose climber next to the reds |

| yes that's 2 nice coats of the reds-look in the middle of each, and yes, to all of you re vent color, definitely green. with the corbels landlord just put up, if the vent was to be painted white, the bottom wouldn't even match up with the bottom of the corbel, wouldn't form a straight line, and that would look totally chopped up yes???? |

| and I realize i'm stuck on this subject but the attic vent--which is redwood slats just like the house siding but cut vertically for opening to attic flow--they were done in the 1930's so not an architectural adornment, I believe it just had to be done. remember there were no corbels there until i begged for anything. the neighbors vents are white (yellow house) but they have no corbels. so now I'm still confused over green vs. white....arghhhh and the tall ladder disappears this week....so it's now or never. |
| Leave the vent green. It blends in so nicely. If it were me, I would not want to call attention to it. The corbels are great as is. I think if you painted the vent it would actually detract from the corbels. Love the colors. My pick for the door would be the darker brownish red. But either will look good. |
| Definitely leave the vent green. As someone else said way back, it is not a decorative element that needs attention drawn to it! Since monitor colors can be so off, I would choose whichever red mimics the roses the best. They aren't going to be right up against the door, so they will carry your eye to and from the door and I think that will work best if the shades are close to the same. I do love the green and think you are so lucky to have that landlord! You should give him a big "thank you" smooch on the cheek from everyone here on GW who thinks he is a sweetie! |

| The roses -which will climb up the posts and across the front (landlord is building a wood beam) actually matches the more bright color on the left (my original color I picked) |
| Another vote to leave the vent green. It is not an architectural element nor does it add anything to the appearance of the house. Of the two colors you have, I would go with the darker door on the right. You don't want to match the flowers exactly - various reds will give more depth and interest to the landscape and visual appeal. I would also paint the ceiling of the porch white. It will make that area feel less shadowed, especially at night. |
| I would also paint the ceiling of the porch white. Or blue. |

| Vent: Green Door: Darker color on right |
| My initial response to the 2 reds was the on on the right deep and rich looking but after looking at it the red on the right is happy and vibrant. I like happy but either way both are beautiful. Those roses are going to look great with that background. As for the vent I still vote green it is of no decoration value if it was a fancy shape then maybe white but as it stands the green helps it disappear and let the corbels shine like they are supposed to. You are definitely an added value tenant good choices. |
| Vent green. Green vent. Veen grent. Grent veen. Either red. |
| definitely leave the vent green. Both reds are great. You can't go wrong. It's so cute and you have a great landlord. |
| I agree with leaving the vent green. I'm late to this party, but what about an eggplant for the door? The red on the left seems too bright and the one on the right goes into the orangey-brown reds that tend to be my least favorite -- so I was thinking about the burgundy suggestion. I would like that better, but that would be a deep blue red, so why not take it further -- or the lavender door idea and go deeper? |

ok, last time I swear. this in sun-late in day I love the brighter (left one) I know it looks pinky now, but the right one looks browny during the day. oh god..i don't know WHAT to do |
| I love both reds but would go with the brighter one. It just looks so good with the green |
A terra cotta with some pink in it would look nice too and would blend with the porch & walkway:
| VENT: White DOOR: Red on left (the red on the right is just too brown!) |

| I love the red on the right. The tone just looks perfect to me with the green. I didn't think I would like red at all, but that one seems to work perfectly. The green was a perfect choice. I hope you are no longer fretting about that. |

| Red on the right and vent green. Gorgeous. |

| Green vent. Either red. The one on the left looks happy and unexpected to me; the browner one on the right more traditional. I'd opt for happy since that seems to be the direction you're taking your cute house. If you don't like whichever red you pick, it's the kind of thing you can change in just a couple of hours. Have you grown to love the house color? I do. |

| ok.................. painting today............ vent is staying green. door is getting brighter (on the the left) red - he doesn't like the brownish one. the door itself is getting a major redo (LOL) since it's a slab going into an old house which has shorter doors and the screws into the wall for the hinges were a mile long due to termite damage over the years. plus other prep work. wow, is all I can think. (oh the paint that came off the old trim" inside" the house is everything from aqua, pink, green, and red. (house built in 1936) can't wait to see the final work of art. I'll post for sure! (flowers not in tho till I get paid !!) |
| It's lovely! I really like the color you chose for the house. |

| I *L O V E* your house! I hope you do too. Please post pictures! |
| awm, just want to say I *love* the tone you chose. It works brilliantly for me -- of course it's not my house : ) but *that* is the red that makes the stoop look intentional, and brings the house color and door together for me. Red like clay, very earthy. to cindy: I love the house color, too, and I hope it's growing on you. As I've been driving around the last few days I've seen houses your color and they always catch my eye in a good way. |

| been humming the jeopardy song for a few days can't wait to see pics |

| What an excellent redo! Really brings out character in the house. Looks like you and landlord make a great team....and how excellent for both of you as he gets a much more valuable house and you get a much more lovely place to live. The eave brackets and the curved sidewalk really make it. Super! |
| Thank you for coming back and sharing the end results. It looks wonderful and what a nice landlord to make it happen too. You had great ideas. |
