New Rug, New Inspiration, New Paint, New Pictures....

Old 1937 house we have been restoring for the past year. Moved in 4 months ago, and took a break, but I'm back trying to complete a few more areas!

This house is so sunny, and bright.. I just adore it, even with all the work that we still face. My other house that I have owned, were always more in the darker golden, green colors, but I feel like a change, and this house just looks and feels right with lighter, airy colors (IMHO).

So, I bought a new area rug for the dining room, I'm trying to incorporate some light gray blue colors into the rooms, (blue is a color which I never-ever used before this house). The rug border is more of a gray aqua... and a few days go, I started to finish painting the kitchen which was started a yellow-sagey pale green. But I decided to run out and get a new color! I bought BM Silver Crest.. and I just LOVE it. Not sure if the pictures show how nice the colors, but it is so much "fresher" and brighter... Honest opinions and thoughts are fine (but I'm not repainting! lol :)

tinker, I adore it! What a perfect colour for your space. It is the perfect combo of warm and cool. The rug and the wall colour work wonderfully together and the brown tones in the rug make the wood dining set work with the cooler tones. You must be so thrilled when you walk into the room. I think you have nailed the new you right on the head (somehow that doesn't sound right, but I think you'll know what I mean).

If I remember correctly you are in a pretty warm climate? I think the colour will make you feel cool but cozy all at the same time. Well done and keep posting pix. I always look forward to them.

Love the new color!

Lovely! I wouldn't like the wall color at all in the chilly North, but a nice cooling color for sunny FL where the right color can lower the perceived temperature by about ten degrees. Very subtle.

I love the color choice. Subtle in just the right way.

Very soft and clean feeling. A lovely kitchen. Will you be putting in a little bistro table by the window?

Fresh, clean and cool... just what I see, and because I have a beautiful water-view outside the bay window, it feels like it draws the water closer.

les, that's my plan... just need to find the right size one (as soon as I have more time to shop!)

Beautiful room! I've enjoyed following your new home makeover.

May I ask - where did you get your rug? Brand, etc.??

TIA
Tuesday

Les!! never thought of marble, but with this color... perfect! Always liked those vintage sewing machines, and I know where some are... so I just might look into a DIY! Yes... still need a window cushion.

tuesday, thank you! I actually purchased from an ebay seller - who I purchased rugs from before. They have a store in NY. The rug is a hand-knotted, one of a kind. Took a long time looking to find the perfect one!

Gorgeous rug -- and VERY pretty color! :)

Lovely home! :)

I love it! Can't wait to see pictures of the whole place when you are finished.

I know how attached one becomes to a tea kettle, but have you considered stainless rather than the copper? May be too matchy for you, but I think it would play perfectly with your paint color.

Oh, love the rug, too and would really like to see the whole room! The chairs and table look pretty, too.

Love the paint color, such a adorable kitchen. Great job! So fun to make a place just how you want it.

You amaze me, tinker! You decide on a new color and whoosh it's done. Such a pretty, subtle color that coordinates with your rug so well. Another beautiful choice.

Looks gorgeous to me! Your kitchen is stunning and the wall color and the new rug are fabulous.

Thanks everyone, I'm really happy with the color. Just for the record, lol... I wish I could whoosh it all done, but it's just the pictures I showed... I'm still painting (all day today - and have at least a week before it's complete.

I've been in this house 2 years and still haven't a clue about paint color. You "decided to run out and get a new color" and purchase the perfect color! My word... maybe in my dreams I could do that - LOL! My hat's off to you. Beautiful job!!!

Tinker -- the new paint looks beautiful in your kitchen!

(BM dealers all over the country are going to scratch their heads and wonder as the "Silver Crest" sample pots fly off their shelves in the coming weeks.)

Beautiful job Tinker. The rug is a fabulous addition to the room. Would you mind sharing the dealer's name (is it NY Rug Gallery)? Thanks so much!

the paint color is great! and I love the rug - it's beautiful.

that old sewing machine is called a treadle sewing machine. That's what I learned to sew on as a kid.

tinker - would you mind sharing the ebay seller's name/link to their store? I've been shopping for rugs and am having a hard time making decisions on rugs I've only seen online. Thanks!!

RE: New Rug, New Inspiration, New Paint, New Pictures....

Thank you!! I am now about 95% complete with the kitchen... It has been a lot of work, so many doors to paint. I had to stop and pack up and cleanup my mess.. family is coming to visit / stay with us!

The Rug, I purchased from S&H Rugs in New Jersey... on ebay or online you can find them at 1800getarug. I purchased 2 other rugs from them, and the descriptions are fairly accurate. I also had t=2 rugs that I returned, and they were easy to deal with and promptly refunded my money.

I've purchased rugs from them and they've been an accurate to their pictures.

As much as I liked the pretty yellowish color you had before, I love this one more! Just perfect. The adjectives that jumped immediately to mind (fresh, clean, cool) have already been used. It also looks easy and elegant. I can't believe you just ran out and picked up the perfect color like that. I agonize for weeks and weeks after many paint pots to choose color. Good on ya!

Very pretty color - it does look fresh and clean! Love the rug also.
