Well, actually about the drain....

We had our master bathroom remodeled several years ago. We used a designer and her contractors. Overall, they did a nice job and I am still happy with it.

Last year it looked like the drain needed cleaning. DH took the screws off but could not remove the cover because it appears they had grouted it in. He gave up and put the screws back in, but now we really do need to get in there and clean it out.

I suppose he will have to use a drill bit of some sort to rip through the grout to get the cover off. I guess when he puts it back it will just rest on top of the tiles after he screws it in?

Is this normal practice to grout the drain? If he is able to get the cover off, does he need to do anything special when putting it back on?

The designer is no longer in business for herself apparently and I have no way to contact her.
