Another seating option

I prefer sofas across from each other, but it seems most "family would prefer staring at the TV rather than each other ;)

Have an L-shaped seating arrangment as in the first picture but bring it away from the walls like in the second picture.

You could also, it if fits, put your TV on the wall next to the door or on the wall next to the kitchen...that way TV watching isn't interrupted by people walking through to get to the kitchen. You could then do an L again but the other way.

Try all arrangments without the chair first...then see if it will fit in.

If you do an L seating arrangment you will need a bigger table and taller lamp at the L.

Get the arrangment down first, then worry about accessories and art.

I would move the tv to one of the other walls as joaniepoanie suggested (I'd probly choose the kitchen wall). Then the sofas can be L shaped, one on the 'other' wall and the other one looking out the window / small table at the corner of the L and the coffee table in the center of room. I can't tell how big that tv is but maybe the single chair could fit in the corner where the tiny table and lamp are in pic 2. Do get the place comfy and settled before you stress on decor.

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately, at this time, moving the tv isn't an option. We just renovated and our time to patch holes , run cable, re-paper, etc has passed. I will try moving the L formation out from the walls as joaniep first suggested and will post a picture. Thanks for helping!
