FLOR tiles

| Hi,
I did a search for these but all I got were garden related threads. I am looking at the FLOR tiles that you use to make a rug for use at a friend's house. They're each 12x12 and you build a rug out of them. Does anyone have any experience with them? suggestions? praise or problems?
I can't post a link here, but if you google FLOR it comes right up.
Thank you! |

| My niece used these in her basement playroom for her kids and loves them. She did a wall to wall type install. Probably not what I would use in my living room because to me they lend themselves more to a contemporary feel but I love the look for things like offices, mud room rugs - that kind of thing. |

I know lowes and home depot carry them. I've used them before but for our garage and outdoors. I can't really tell you if they would hold up inside without slipping. They did great in my garage and don't move. There was a thread about them in the kitchen forum a while back about using them under barstools. |

| Thanks! You guys are fast. Her home is VERY modern (Palm Springs retro modern), so I think they will work in that regard, but they have animals and they also entertain work wise in that too, so it needs to look nice. I didn't realize they had them at HD- so in other words, they can just go and grab a few to replace them if something happens? That's a good thing. I'm off to do another search in kitchens. |

| Here you go. They sell them by the case. Get different colors and you can make your own pattern. |
Here is a link that might be useful: hd
thanks!

| Thanks, MLRaff! I'll pass this on to her. This is going to be a huge help-- they keep getting their rugs ruined by their animals;-) |

| I have used them and they are great! You can get samples of any of their colors/textures from their web site. I have used them in my sons' room, my mudroom, and my kitchen. They do NOT slip on hardwood floors and also don't damage them. I have a single square sitting inside my rarely-used back door, and I have a square made out of 4 tiles inside my mudroom door. The ones I have show hardly any dirt, vacuum easily (and don't move even when vacuumed), etc. They also have a ton of colors and patterns/textures. I didn't realize HD carried them now. |

| I just put them in my family room (about a month ago) - I have 3 small kids and they've been great. Definitely get a lot of samples, since the quality and plushness/scratchiness vary a lot among the different styles. Target has a very limited selection of them - for some reason they are in the automotive section at every Target I've been in. Looks-wise, I cut some pieces to create a border for mine and I'm very happy with how it turned out, makes it look more finished to my eye. Finally, when reading reviews online, pay attention to the type/style - there are a few that people haven't been happy with and some that people love. I have the Martha Stewart Brook Corrugated Rib and it's quite nice. Oh, and Flor runs specials with free shipping periodically. I've also heard you can get free shipping just by calling and asking. | Thanks, Sue-- I was wondering about slippage. Also, do you notice if they have a bad smell? Weird question, I know, but some rugs have that rubber odor and her boyfriend is very sensitive to it. I like the ways you've used in them all over the house-- I'm definitely going to give that a try at my house. Metromom, I didn't know Target carried them; They are all over the place now. I love your pic-- and you used the colors she is using, so that was really helpful. I see what you mean about the different styles-- I was a bit overwhelmed with them all on the website. I'll do a search for the Martha Stewart ones and see if that line has the colors my GF wants. I really appreciate everyone's feedback! |

| I have a box of 10 samples arriving today! Can't wait to see them. |

| No smell that I have noticed -- maybe just out of the box (can't remember) but certainly not anything lingering. |

| decorpas - if those are the colors she's interested in, I have a lot of samples I ordered that I could send to her; let me know if she's interested. I have a bunch of blue/greens, grays, and a few beiges. |

| What a timely post. I just ordered some samples last week and will probably get a few more colors to try. Metromom, thanks so much for posting your pics. You've given me some inspiration. I'm also delighted to hear that the product works for you and your family. I also have 3 young children and have discovered that our new tile floors in our kitchen make our space way too loud. I am planning on using Flor under our kitchen table and think it will provide just enough sound absorption without the hassles of a real rug. I also couldn't help but notice that you did the Spring Cure. I followed it closely, but didn't participate because I was expecting a baby right in the middle of it. Next time. If you don't get any takers on your blues/green/greys, I'll buy them from you. |

| Metromom, What a nice offer! She already ordered a bunch of samples, so maybe you can take Elizgonz up on her offer:-) Of course, I'd love to see them- so please post pics of the samples anyone who has them. They look so different on their website. Sue, thanks for the note re the odor. That's a huge relief. This seems like the right way to go-- so much good feedback. |

| Elizgonz, it's nice to be recognized! I only made it about halfway through the cure...went on vacation in the middle of it and then never got back into the swing of things. But I'm going to try again in the fall; it was a lot of fun and I got a lot done too. Here are the samples I have - if Elizgonz wants them she has first dibs otherwise I'm happy to send them to anyone who wants them.
clockwise from top, that's tufted frong bisque, widewale tan, MS velvet twist brook, morning coffee latte, walking on clouds soft grey, housepet ferret, sprout smoke, sprout seaform, modern mix blue (in the middle) |

We have them in our LR and have been pleasantly surprized. We store extra in a box under the couch, in case we ever need to swap one out. FLOR is easy to vacuum and clean. It isn't, however, a soft 'sit on the floor' surface. |

| delta breeze, wow that looks fantastic! metromom, thanks for the pic! those are all the colors my gf is looking at right now. the greys and blues looked a bit different on the website, but your pic looks clearer to me. How nice of you to offer the samples! |

| Thanks so much, MetroMom! I'd like to do the Fall Cure, but what I'm really hoping is that my place will be in great shape by then and I can just be an interested bystander instead of an envious one. Unlikely, but I'm working on it. DB - very nice living room. |
