I was going to paint ours black to make it disappear and look at least a tiny bit chic. I kind of lost interest and it seemed like too much trouble. Maybe someday.

I have made gates out of lumber, it isn't hard to do and you can stain the lumber so it looks nice. It might be best to put in 4x4 posts rather than try to attached the new gates to the old chain link posts.

Since you are looking for something that is only temporary you likely want it to be inexpensive. If you can find snow fencing in rolls it might be a solution. Just cut to fit and wire on existing fence and gates.

I recommend privacy fence slats. They come in different heights and colors and will add privacy at a low price until you can replace the fence.

My iron pergola crashed and for some reason it sat stacked for a while. May not work for everyone, but ended up using the ends for covering my chain link gate. Spray painted all black and wired together. I don't even see the old gate. Spraying chain link takes little time and it loves being painted. Otherwise, I would just build a wood gate and attach to new posts as suggested.
